Role Summary
We are seeking a Software Engineer to help design, develop and deliver Splunk's User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) product, a cloud-native, multi-tenanted analytics solution, that detects known and unknown threats by applying behavioral analysis based on advanced ML/AI technology. The Splunk UEBA product will empower large and medium scale enterprises to combat security threats, protect brand reputation and intellectual property.

What you'll get to do
- Design and implement new features while testing and analyzing the performance of existing systems.
- Uphold high engineering standards by leading design, code, and test plan reviews.
- Build reliable, scalable, and high-performance distributed systems.
- Identify and implement opportunities for engineering and operational excellence.
- Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and other operational activities to ensure service reliability.
- Debug and resolve customer-reported issues, delivering effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product managers and other engineers.
- Contribute to sprint and quarterly planning by helping estimate tasks and workloads.
- Learn, explore, and integrate new technologies into the team’s workflow.
Must-have Qualifications
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala, with a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
- Strong knowledge of distributed system architecture, including data persistence and processing technologies for both streaming and batch applications.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in application monitoring, log management, metrics/telemetry processing, and alerting tools.
- Experience with an Agile DevOps engineering environment that effectively uses CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
- 5 years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent practical experience; or 3 years and a technical Master’s degree; or a Ph.D. without experience; or equivalent practical experience
Nice-to-have Qualifications

- Experience with large-scale event processing systems and data storage solutions, including both SQL and NoSQL, with experience in time series data storage and retrieval
- Familiarity with ML frameworks, data pipelines, or analytics tools to enhance system intelligence and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience with Splunk (SPL)
- Experience with AWS services such as EMR, Aurora, SQS, and Kinesis
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for building scalable systems, fostering a culture of scalability and performance excellence
