Data Scientists develop end-to-end data science applications that apply predictive, prescriptive, and cognitive analytic methods to system-wide clinical and operational strategic initiatives.
Job Essentials
1. Develops innovative data science and machine learning tools and methods that result in products or strategic insights with significant return on investment while meeting project requirements and timelines.
2. Prepares data from diverse data stores for analytics including data mining and feature engineering within large datasets with complex classes and anomalies.
3. Employs advanced statistical and/or machine learning techniques while effectively and accurately interpreting the results of quantitative models to achieve clear outcomes.
4. Proficiently uses programming languages and tools appropriate for data science and machine learning domains.
5. Proficiently uses scripting languages to work with API's, move data, and construct custom enterprise grade software utilities, applications, or analytic products to automate, improve, and operationalize quantitative models.
6. Quickly learns and appropriately applies cutting edge advanced analytic methodologies and tools in creative and novel ways.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience

Experience without a related degree will be considered if skill set and experience are robust.
- or -
Master's Degree and two years of experience. Degree must be earned in a related field such as statistics, data science, applied mathematics, computer science, information systems, or other quantitative and computational discipline. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Experience applying multiple statistical and machine learning modeling techniques (e.g., generalized linear models, tree-based classification, network analysis, simulation modeling, inferential statistics, natural language processing, other structured and unstructured analytical methods).
- and -
Experience developing custom machine learning methods.
- and -
Experience programming using quantitative, procedural and statistical programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, Spark, and Matlab.
- and -
Understanding of data science systems and applications.
- and -
Advanced experience using databases including design principles, data frameworks, and query languages.
- and -
Experience efficiently manipulating, combining, and analyzing large or complex data sets, including unstructured data sources.
- and -
Experience developing, analyzing, interpreting, and managing various complex data sets to drive insights with meaningful outcomes and demonstrated return on investment.
- and -
Successful experience leading and participating in advanced analytic projects from inception to model deployment and workflow integration.
- and -
Skilled in communicating technical insights through data visualization, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
- and -
Experience fostering data science partnerships across all levels of an organization through effective communication and relationship management.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the field of data science and/or machine learning, including measured outcomes from the development and deployment of algorithms, applications, or products.

Experience integrating statistical and machine learning methodologies into workflows.
- and -
Experience programming and reviewing code using statistical and data software tools like R, Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, etc.
- and -
Experience using or creating API's, functions, libraries, and/or packages.
- and -
Experience successfully using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, NoSQL, in-memory data stores, etc., and Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, etc.
- and -
Successful project experience working with advanced data analysis in a healthcare or insurance setting.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
