Job description

Forbes believes in the power of entrepreneurial capitalism and uses it on various platforms to ignite the conversations that drive systemic change in business, culture and society. We celebrate success and are committed to using our megaphone to drive diversity, equity and inclusion.

Forbes Vetted is seeking a Temporary Home & Kitchen editor to join our team from February 2025 to August 2025. The role will be responsible for writing and editing Forbes Vetted Home & Kitchen content, which includes product guides, roundups, retailer news, tested product reviews, product/brand comparison posts, how-tos and product odes. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with at least 5 years of direct prior experience writing and editing about products for the home. The Temporary Home & Kitchen Editor will work closely with our updates and strategy editors to optimize evergreen content, and collaborate with the deals and special projects teams as needed. This role reports to the Forbes Vetted Senior Home & Kitchen Editor.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing and editing articles within the Home & Kitchen vertical, with topics including furniture, décor, large and small appliances, lawn and garden care, pets, cleaning and organizing, home improvement and more
  • Occasionally assigning articles to other Forbes Vetted staff and managing their workflow
  • Adhering to the daily and weekly content schedule outlined by your section lead, publishing articles in a timely and accurate manner
  • Frequent collaboration across teams, including with strategy, data, audience development, partnerships and product, as well as more senior and junior editors
  • Attending and participating in virtual team meetings and contributing to Forbes Vetted’s positive, friendly culture
  • Contributing to coverage during a limited number of “tentpole” sales events, which could include shifts outside normal business hours and on holiday weekends; examples include Memorial Day, Labor Day and Amazon Prime Day
  • Potentially contributing to Forbes Vetted’s social media and other off-platform channels, as the editing schedule allows

The ideal candidate:

  • Is an expert in the home and kitchen space with 5+ years of experience writing and editing topics in this area for a commerce or editorial publication (required)
  • Has a strong understanding of SEO as well as affiliate/commerce content strategy
  • Has impeccable writing, editing and reporting skills
  • Has deep familiarity in the commerce space and experience testing for and producing in-depth consumer product reviews
  • Is exceptionally reliable and punctual, able to meet our daily and weekly publishing quota
  • Has a network of PR contacts throughout the Home & Kitchen industry
  • Is user-focused and understands editorial independence, but can deftly balance this with the needs of the business
  • Is a collaborative team player who is willing to occasionally write and/or edit outside of the home product category to contribute to the success of other categories
  • Is eager to innovate and experiment editorially to help grow the Forbes Vetted audience
  • Has experience with Monday or other planning and collaboration tools
  • Is familiar with and adept at navigating internal content management systems (CMS) and online publishing platforms

The hourly rate for this role is $50.00 - $80.00
