Role Purpose

Our global Subsurface Research Team delivers integrated research, data analysis and industry-leading thought leadership, across the geo-energy landscape, enabling customers to make quicker, more effective decisions. 

 

Reporting to one of our Subsurface Research Leaders, an experienced, highly motivated, innovative and performance-driven Principal Research Analyst is required to support our Subsurface Upstream research offer.  

 

Main Responsibilities 

With a focus on the Americas, primary responsibilities include: 

  • Identifying, collating and analysing data and intelligence, from a diversity of sources, to inform our customers on matters that are important to them 

  • Originating and authoring unique, thought-provoking and highly impactful written content 

  • Building and maintaining a diverse network of industry relationships in service of driving revenue growth and expanding our data and research access 

  • Contributing to, and leading some elements in, the development of our products and services 

  • Promoting our brand externally through customer engagement, social media and industry events 

  • Collaborating across internal segments and functions in service of performance and operational excellence 

  • Developing our people through coaching and mentoring 

  • Supporting the Subsurface team vision and agenda

Qualifications and Capabilities 

  • MSc or equivalent level qualification in a Geoscience or Reservoir Engineering discipline. 

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant, professional experience in the Upstream sector with exposure across the value chain, from exploration to production. 

  • Knowledge of North America and/or Latin America petroleum geology and their respective oil and gas markets.  

  • Extensive knowledge of the global energy industry and the Energy Transition.  

  • Deep experience in stakeholder engagement and management.  

  • Strong blend of technical skills and experience and demonstrable commercial acumen. 

  • A track record in demonstrating differentiated values and behaviours. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Demonstrable curiosity with a track record of impactful innovation. 

  • Excellent data reading, manipulation and analysis skills. 

 

Expectations 

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be required to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment. Full-time remote working is not an option for this role. 

  • Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones. 

  • Frequent Houston-based customer visits and infrequent travel abroad.
