Draslovka a.s., a management company of Draslovka Group (headquartered in the Czech Republic) is seeking a Legal Counsel at a mid-tier level to join our international Legal Team in a remote role from South Africa!  The Legal Counsel will be responsible for provision of general legal support to all operations of the company, in particular with a focus on the commercial contractual agenda and support of our business teams worldwide in the area of ​​licensing, service and sales contracts.  The Legal Counsel will also assist with compliance with corporate governance and assistance with management of legal matters of Draslovka Group companies in various jurisdictions in Europe, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

 

To ensure success you need to have sound knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations, experience with licensing and commercial law, corporate law, contracts drafting and negotiation and the ability to make prudent legal decisions. You will need to be able to independently manage legal matters in jurisdictions outside your domestic jurisdiction delivering final work product to the business teams. Top candidates will be team players with outstanding advocacy and people skills. 

 

What will you be doing with us?

  • Advising our business managers, executives and senior management on commercial contractual matters taking full responsibility for delivering final work product to the business teams.
  • Drafting and negotiating licensing and other commercial agreements, including creation of template agreements database.
  • Involvement in strategic market transactions.
  • Maintaining knowledge of organization’s operations and legal documents.
  • Conducting legal research in your area of responsibility.
  • Liaising with outside counsels regarding their assignments.
  • Assist with managing organization's intellectual property.


What should you know or have?

 

  • Legal degree from accredited, top-tier law school in South Africa and/or another accredited top-tier University globally, LL.M. degree from a common law jurisdiction is an advantage.
  • Qualification to practise the law of England and Wales is an advantage.
  • 5+ years of practice with an established law firm or in-house counsel practice.
  • Experience with commercial, license and service contract agenda.
  • Transactional experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality.
  • Proficient legal experience in regulated business is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of IP law is an advantage.
