ROLE SUMMARY

The US Customer & Channels Group was formed in 2024 with the vision to bring channel expertise to our Primary Care brands leading to portfolio level strategy planning, efficient use of resources, building year-round operational engine, and further advancing our relationships with customers. The Health System, Urgent Care, and Long-Term Care Channel (HULC) team resides under the US Primary Care Customer & Channel Group. It seeks to drive coordination and maximize opportunity across the Primary Care franchise through holistic channel strategy across Health System, Long-Term Care, and Urgent Care channels to meet the needs of our customers and our portfolio priorities. The team covers the full Primary Care franchise including - Vaccines, Antiviral & Diagnostics, Migraine, and Internal Medicine.

More specifically to this role, the US health system landscape has been and continues to evolve rapidly.  Consolidation and vertical integration among Leading Health Systems highlight the importance of integrated care delivery and population health in a progressively challenging market.  As a result, Leading Health Systems are increasingly seeking greater coordination and innovative approaches.

The Sr. Director, US Primary Care Health System Strategy will report directly to the Health System, Urgent Care, & Long-Term Care Channel (HULC) Lead – Aviva Bortniker. Given the criticality of the Health System channel to our Primary Care business, this Sr. Director will play a key role in Pfizer Primary Care’s vision of evolving our go to market model to increase our coordination and proactive planning to best meet this critical customer’s needs.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

This highly experienced and dynamic leader will drive success of the team’s Health System portfolio marketing vision, by overseeing the entire Health System portfolio commercial strategy and downstream deployments. This role will be responsible for the development of a strategic & tactical plan and execution of a coordinated Health System channel approach across the Primary Care franchise, to accelerate our ability to engage customers and patients across Primary Care environments. This role requires a combination of proactive strategic thinking, strong analytical expertise, executive presence, and demonstrated ability to collaborate across a diverse array of stakeholders to influence without authority and rapidly translate insights into action. This role will be charged with anticipating and planning for what is on the horizon to generate invaluable strategic insights, while also deploying aspirational yet realistic plans. This individual should have deep expertise and knowledge of the dynamic US health system landscape with relevant experiences in the commercial/marketing business. Specific role responsibilities include:
 

Health System Channel Expert:

  • Serve as the Health System channel expert across the Primary Care portfolio. Ability to identify Health System portfolio headwinds and determine plan of action to navigate.  
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for Pfizer Primary Care to identify, confirm, and leverage prioritized opportunities, to enable an innovative approach that mutually aligns Leading Health System and Pfizer Primary Care needs.  Work cross-functionally, across Primary Care Business Units and with the core enterprise team to research, develop, manage, and evaluate complimentary above brand engagements, programs, and projects.
  • Proactively and continually generate, curate, and socialize key health system landscape updates across internal stakeholders to ensure our Primary Care organization is kept current on key dynamics to help inform timely business planning and execution.
  • Manage senior internal leadership coordination and external stakeholders (including major LHS executives).  Collaborate with business partners across Pfizer Primary Care, staying closely connected to new Health System initiatives being driven within the business and supporting the scaling of best practice concepts; drive applicable pull-through via active project management.

Drive Strategic Insights into Actions Across the Health System Channel:

  • Guide analytics team partners to develop quantitative insights into the evolving Health System account landscape.
  • Continuously orchestrate the development of strategic insights needed to inform tradeoffs across business strategies, Customer Facing Colleague (CFC) account planning, and marketing approaches
  • Conduct analytics and benchmarks to identify potential Health System account prioritization and growth opportunities for Primary Care portfolio; engage with cross-functional team ranging leadership levels (Marketing, CFC, Medical, etc.) to provide healthy tension and constructive challenge to drive Health System channel performance tracking and growth optimization.
  • Facilitate regular “strategy sessions” with key portfolio stakeholders to surface new opportunities and connect quantitative and qualitative insights; frame implications and facilitate decisions and actions to address, and orchestrating said actions.

Portfolio Integration and Project Management:

  • Serve as a central connection point across Primary Care Health System stakeholders.
  • Serve as core team member on Op Plan; Take lead on key brand initiatives related to Customer Facing Colleague execution within Health System channel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educational background:
  • Bachelor's degree required. An MBA or equivalent Masters qualification is preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in business management and strategy.
  • Healthcare Experience:
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience in healthcare
  • Deep expertise and knowledge of the dynamic US health system landscape with relevant experiences in the commercial/marketing business.
  • Leadership Skills:
  • Executive presence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization; Demonstrated ability to develop senior leadership presentations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and mastery of working in a matrix environment as a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex situations in a matrix organizational structure through the participation in or leadership of cross-functional teams, strong team membership skills.
  • Strategic & Analytical Skills:
  • Prior quantitative analytics experience heavily preferred.
  • Prior experiences in the commercial/marketing business
  • Demonstrated business acumen, very strong analytical skills, and strategic mindset.
  • Strong writing, presentation and influencing skills.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
