Job description

A leader in the luxury travel and hospitality industry, specialising in high-end, exclusive vacation rentals and accommodation across SA, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Principal Real Estate Agent to join their team, focusing on short-term rentals. This is a full-time, permanent hybrid role offering flexibility and autonomy, with 1 or 2 days spent in the office as needed, and the rest of the time working remotely. 

The successful candidate must be registered as a Principal with the PPRA, be FFC credited, and reside in Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, or Cape Town.  The candidate will work closely with the Managing Director to develop strategic initiatives, oversee daily operations, and ensure that they continue to exceed client expectations.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Managing Director to create and implement long-term strategies aimed at enhancing market position and achieving financial growth.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes to ensure profitability and meet financial goals.
  • Operations Oversight: Identifying villas, acquisition of new Homeowner clients (going to villas or cold calling), lead follow up from ad campaigns, manage day-to-day operations including property management, guest relations, maintenance, and leasing activities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire staff members while fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional development.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities for expansion, and competitive positioning within the luxury rental market.
  • Client Relations: Build strong relationships with property owners, clients, vendors/suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local laws, regulations, and industry standards related to real estate management.
  • Marketing Strategy: Develop innovative marketing campaigns alongside the Managing Director to attract new tenants or clients while enhancing brand presence in the luxury market.
  • Property Acquisition & Development: Identify potential properties for acquisition or development that align with strategic goals.
  • Risk Management: Assess risks associated with property management decisions; implement strategies to mitigate those risks effectively.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare comprehensive reports on operational performance metrics; analyse data to inform decision-making processes.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address disputes or issues between clients or staff professionally and effectively.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage technology solutions for property management systems and guest communication platforms to improve operational efficiency.
  • Networking & Partnerships: Establish partnerships with businesses or organisations that can provide value-added services or enhance business opportunities within the luxury sector.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Promote environmentally sustainable practices within managed properties where applicable.




Requirements

  • PPRA Principal status / PDE5
  • FFC credited
  • Minimum NQF5 qualification (bachelor’s degree is advantageous)
  • Must reside in Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, or Cape Town.
  • Proven experience in real estate management or luxury rentals.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
  • Own vehicle and valid driver's license.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel); Proficiency in property management software is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams effectively.
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • A high level of integrity, dependability, and work ethic.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding customer service in a luxury environment.
