Job description

Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the role (your why)

As an Sales Development Specialist, you’ll be at the heart DataPay’s growth story! This isn’t just about making calls—it’s about making connections (and money!). Your mission? To bring energy, enthusiasm, and a touch of charm to every conversation as you uncover new business opportunities and build strong customer relationships for our Enterprise DataPay SAAS solution. Think of yourself as a problem-solver, a deal-closer, and someone who leaves every customer thinking, “Wow, they really get me!” If you love the thrill of a great pitch and the satisfaction of hitting your targets, this role is calling out for you!

This is a 3 Month contracting opportunity, this means that it is open to all work visa types including Working Holiday.

What you’ll bring

  • A background in outbound calling/telesales, preferably in a technical/IT/SAAS environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to build rapport quickly with prospects
  • An understanding of payroll, payments, or financial services is a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce) and other sales tools (LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and achieve KPIs in a fast-paced environment
  • A results-driven mindset with a passion for driving sales and contributing to a team’s success
  • A desire to learn about the payroll and payments industry, with a focus on delivering value to businesses

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prospect potential customers through outbound efforts, including phone calls, emails, and social media outreach.
  • Qualify inbound leads based on business size, payroll needs, and industry to determine fit for Datapay’s solutions.
  • Conduct discovery calls with prospects to understand their unique payroll and payment challenges and identify how Datapay can address their pain points.
  • Schedule meetings for the sales team/pre sales team, ensuring that sales account managers are prepared with relevant information and lead details.
  • Work closely with the Account Managers to transition qualified leads into opportunities.
  • Track and manage leads in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and ensure all prospect interactions are properly logged.
  • Maintain a high level of activity, including cold calling, follow-ups, and outreach campaigns to meet or exceed lead generation targets.

Culture and Benefits

Datacom is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest suppliers of Information Technology professional services. We have managed to maintain a dynamic, agile, small business feel that is often diluted in larger organisations of our size. It's our people that give Datacom its unique culture and energy that you can feel from the moment you meet with us.

We care about our people and provide a range of perks such as social events, chill-out spaces, remote working, flexi-hours and professional development courses to name a few. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, develop your career, connect and bring your true self to work. You will be recognised and valued for your contributions and be able to do your work in a collegial, flat-structured environment.

We operate at the forefront of technology to help Australia and New Zealand’s largest enterprise organisations explore possibilities and solve their greatest challenges, so you will never run out of interesting new challenges and opportunities.

We want Datacom to be an inclusive and welcoming workplace for everyone and take pride in the steps we have taken and continue to take to make our environment fun and friendly, and our people feel supported.
