RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Senior Director of User Experience, Senior User Experience Architects are part of a talented UX team that ensures an effective user experience across all Common App products. Possessing a deep knowledge and expert application of human-centered design and design-thinking methodologies, this individual will create seamless, efficient workflows and intuitive information architectures for Common App products.
Senior UX architects work collaboratively across the organization with designers, researchers, product managers, and other stakeholders to organize complex information and design user-friendly systems that meet both user and business needs. They play a pivotal role in shaping the backbone of our user experience, ensuring that our products and interfaces are cohesive, accessible, and human-centered. Using data and research insights, our architects improve and optimize workflows, making processes and experiences efficient and joyful for our users.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
This role requires:
- Candidates must live in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Architecture, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in UX architecture, information design, or a similar role, with a portfolio showcasing effective workflow development and IA projects.
- Highly proficient in human-centered design methodology and extensive experience in structuring, organizing, and documenting complex information clearly and effectively, with a deep understanding of IA principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and refining workflows that are efficient, logical, and user-centered.
- Exceptional communication, active listening, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex design concepts clearly and collaboratively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
- Proficient in design tools such as Figma, FigJam, Lucid Chart, etc. for creating workflows and flow diagrams that guide design and development teams.
- Exceptional communication, active listening, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to juggle and prioritize the demands of multiple projects, deadlines, and assignments without sacrificing the quality of work.
- Demonstrated aesthetic skills with a relentless attention to detail.
- Deep knowledge of and commitment to accessibility best practices, including Section 508 guidelines and WCAG specifications.
- Ability to put aside personal opinions and biases to understand and achieve actual user needs/desires.
- Ability to remain level-headed and exercise good judgment when under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively both as an individual contributor and as part of a diverse, virtual team.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience working in higher education or on student-related digital products.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to streamline IA and workflow planning.
- Familiarity with generative AI to support and streamline architecture and workflow development.
- A passion for higher education is a plus.
PAY RANGE
$103,843 - $116,823
