The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to join our Native Apps Platform team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining our industry-leading mobile telematics platform and suite of applications used by hundreds of thousands of users each month.
Software Engineers at Root are accountable for project delivery and maintenance of their team’s systems. This role requires clear communication with peers and stakeholders, technical proficiency across domains, and strong collaborative instincts and skills – all to ensure high-quality and impactful changes are delivered reliably for our business. Successful engineers in this role work closely with their team.

Salary Range: $133,784 - $167,230 (Bonus and LTI Eligible)
How You Will Make an Impact
Write, test, and deploy software solutions for our Trip Tracking framework and iOS Mobile Applications
Perform code reviews on the team’s code
Actively seek to understand the customer’s problem to ensure you are developing effective solutions
Collaborate closely with supportive teammates to share and improve your work
Clearly communicate and document your work to help others learn
Support your systems in production resolving incidents and issues that affect our customers
Increase the effectiveness of your team by suggesting code and process improvements
What You Will Need to Succeed
3+ years as a software engineer.
Proficiency in iOS development with Swift, XCode, and package management tools (e.g. CocoaPods).
Proven ability to build and maintain iOS applications and modular libraries. Ideally with a focus on performance optimization and mobile app lifecycle.
Experience with CI/CD deployment (e.g. FastLane, Bitrise, Buildkite) and version control.
Proficiency in debugging (logging, stack trace analysis, performance metrics).
Experience with databases, SQL, and data analysis.
Commitment to testing, reliability, and aligning development with business goals.
Excellent communication skills with engineering colleagues and stakeholders.
