We actively seek a Sr. Support Engineer, Oracle Technology. This is a remote position and in based in Brazil.

Position Summary

The role of the Sr. Support Engineer, Oracle Technology is to provide exceptional remote-based support for mission-critical Oracle Database software as part of our global customer support team. The position has the responsibility for researching, troubleshooting and supporting of multiple client architectures, and implementations for our global clients’ Oracle environments. It requires technical experience, integration knowledge, infrastructure and skills to diagnose serious issues; then develop, test, and deliver fixes for such issues in complex, integrated and highly configured environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Solve complex customer issues using methodical troubleshooting based on expert knowledge of Oracle Database (including Data Guard), RAC and Exadata technologies

  • Work closely with customers on a daily basis to understand their needs, support business change and deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience.

  • Provide real time assistance when necessary to resolve customers issues.

  • Be a pro-active contributor to a support organization which is running 24x7x365, this will require the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays and monitoring email regularly outside standard business hours when requested.

  • Collaborate with team members in a virtual team environment to extend field experience to different client situations.

  • Support client customizations, advising on upgrades and implementations.

  • Solve complex issues around DB, RAC and Exadata and tuning issues.

  • Solve complex customer issues using your expert knowledge with Oracle Database, RAC and Exadata.

  • Collaborate with team members in a virtual team environment to extend field experience to different client situations

Experience

  • 10+ years relevant Oracle DBA experience, including RAC and Exadata

  • Major versions of Oracle DB technology

  • Hands-on operational as an Oracle DBA, with technology including RAC, Dataguard, High Availability, Backup/Recovery and Exadata

  • Should have implemented OEM 12c, 13c and be able to debug and setup and troubleshoot OEM 13c,Agents.

  • Oracle Databases, including implementation experience, upgrade, configuration and administration

  • Performance tuning

  • Oracle maintenance/patching mechanics

  • Cross Platform migration experience

  • Rac to Non-RAC. Single node to RAC database conversion exposure required.

  • Demonstrable history solving complex problems across multiple modules

  • Nice to have experience in Oracle Enterprise Manager and Golden Gate.

Skills

  • Expert level knowledge of the UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.

  • Deep troubleshooting skills in Oracle databases: 10g to 19c.

  • Must have deep performance tuning skills with practical exposure to oracle performance tuning tools like awr, addm, ash, sqlt, oradebug, sql trace, sql monitor, oem, sql plan management.

  • Must have practical exposure to OS utilities like vmstat, top, iotop, sar, netstat, strace, iostat, tcpdump, wireshark.

  • Must have strong SQL tuning skills.

  • Passionate focus on customer support and the ability to build long term, successful working relationships with Clients

  • Excellent database performance tuning.

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills – verbal & written

  • Attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly

  • Extreme focus on Client satisfaction

  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in high pressure situations

  • The ability to work remotely from a home-based office in a virtual environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Administration, installation and/or debug of other Oracle DB Technologies, like Golden Gate and Enterprise Manager would be a bonus.

  • Administration, installation and/or debug of other DB Technologies, like MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB would be a bonus.

  • Consulting background, while not mandatory, would be useful

  • Fluency in an additional language (preferably Spanish), while not mandatory, would be useful.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Language

  • Fluent Portuguese and English. Spanish is a plus
