What’s the role?
We are looking for an Android Software Engineer II, to join a multidisciplinary app development team, where you will work alongside native engineers to build exciting features for our app users on the Listing screen. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to Etsy’s goals and growth alongside mobile engineers and partners. You’ll work cross functionally with Product, Design and Analytics solving real user problems.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?
This is a full-time role within the Inventory Buyer Experience Initiative on our Android IBX Team. Our mission is to develop a dynamic Listing Screen that surfaces the information that matters most to support a buyer in evaluating items, especially for Etsy’s flagship Categories.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Collaborate across Product, Design, Analysts, Researchers, and Engineering to build a dynamic listing screen.
Prototype, optimize, and deploy large-scale product improvements that deliver key results.
Run A/B experiments to validate product improvements.
Confidently communicate technical issues with all vital stakeholders.
Lead and assist in performing product testing including unit, functional, visual, etc.
In collaboration with your team, craft and improve processes that impact Android app development across Etsy.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
You have 1+ year of experience working on large scale projects
Self-motivation in tackling projects, and you estimate accurate timelines for tasks to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace to hit deadlines.
Proficiency in Kotlin and Java (we’re increasingly Kotlin, but some areas of our codebase are still 'classic' Java).
A talent for debugging familiar code or systems easily, and you’re interested in debugging unfamiliar code.
Experience with version control tools (our tooling and processes are based on git and GitHub).
Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, quality assurance, and other engineers.
Experience with unit testing.
You are a mindful, transparent, and communicative member of your team.
