Job description

As a fast-growing and award-winning marketing agency, we pride ourselves on fostering innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. we’re looking for a visionary Sr. SEO Director to lead SEO Strategy and team into the next level for national to local clients. 

 

The Sr.  Director of SEO will manage a team of SEO Strategists and SEO Project Managers and execute multi-channel campaigns for clients. This leadership position recommends and implements digital marketing strategies across SEO, Digital PR, and Social Media channels. This individual must have large franchise clients and multi-location business experience.


Essential Functions


  • Initial SEO Strategy - SEO Director will be responsible for input on initial high-level SEO strategy recommendations for client campaigns. In addition, meetings will be held with the Lead Strategist and Project Manager (and team) outlining what was discussed with the client during the campaign kickoff meeting and contractual obligations.  
  • Quarterly Campaign Analysis & Audit - Director will be responsible for quarterly reviews of campaign progress via ranking reports, Google Search Console, and analytics data.  The director will review campaigns 2 months after Technical Optimization is implemented and determine the success of implemented changes.  
  • SEO Consulting Documents - The director is responsible for tasking, maintaining, or generating campaign SEO consulting documents per contract basis.  Consulting documents will be forwarded to the Lead Strategist, Project Manager and Sales Consultant once completed for recommendations, additions and/or changes.  
  • Prospective Client Site Reviews – The director is responsible for prospective client site reviews on a per need basis as directed by the Sales Managers, VP of Strategy or CEO.  Prospective site reviews will include Competitive Site Analysis, website architecture recommendations, SEO recommendations, and link acquisition reviews.  
  • Team Management - Director will be responsible for managing a team that includes Lead Strategists, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Interns. In addition, the director will make recommendations on staff hiring and firing, staff reviews, technical and professional guidance, account assignments, queue management, and general oversight of the team. Also responsible for meeting with other directors in the department to coordinate initiatives.
  • Initial SEO Overview & Training - Director will be responsible for initial training to any Ignite Visibility employee, contractor, or client regarding SEO strategy, website architecture, code optimization, link building and SEO content, and alternative strategies involving Social Media and Digital PR.  
  • Research & Development - Director is responsible for researching the latest internet marketing trends and shifts affecting SEO, Social Media, Digital PR, and the development of internal processes.  Input will involve Project Managers, Account Management, Sales Consultants, Department Heads and CEO.
  • Internal Process Documentation - Director will be responsible for writing and maintaining internal process documentation pertaining to information, tasking, output, and maintenance of SEO campaigns.  Input can be received from any team member.
  • Internal Department Management - Director will serve as the direct report to all members of the SEO team; this includes but is not limited to approval of time off requests, conflict resolution, revisions of internal structure and/or procedures and task queue oversight.
  • Ad Hoc - Director will occasionally be asked to perform Ad Hoc duties when necessary.  This includes sitting in on client calls, drafting documentation for client retention or upsell opportunities, ad hoc troubleshooting, client analyses, assistance with keyword mapping & tech op recommendations and overall assistance to Sales Team, Account Management, Content Writing Team, Social Media, Digital PR, PPC, Email, Web Development, and CEO.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has 2-4 direct reports and 8-16 team members.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one with VP SEO and direct reports 
  • Conduct biweekly team meetings
  • Hold a minimum of one webinar a year
  • Hold innovation Friday every 6 months
  • Assist sales on pitches when needed
  • Hold employee performance reviews in accordance with the company schedule
  • Attend leadership training and follow company leadership guidelines
  • Create goals and growth paths for staff

Required Qualifications

  • Must have 12+ years of experience in digital Marketing
  • Must have 12+ years of experience in SEO
  • Agency experience is a must
  • Must be knowledgeable of on-site SEO and link building
  • Must have done a keyword assignment
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of social media and how it relates to SEO
  • Must have knowledge of technical SEO items
  • Must have knowledge of WordPress and blogging
  • Must have knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn, YouTube
  • Must have client-facing experience

  • 12+ years of experience building effective digital marketing campaigns that grow traffic and conversions
  • Extensive experience with technical SEO, content strategy, and user experience
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and ability to come up with innovative marketing strategies
