Job Overview (What You’ll Do):

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and strategic Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead critical financial planning and decision-making processes at Cotopaxi. This role will focus on developing advanced financial models, analyzing key performance metrics, and crafting actionable insights to drive strategic and operational initiatives across the organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of FP&A, you will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver impactful financial forecasts, support data-driven decision-making, and identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvements. This position plays a vital role in shaping the financial health and growth trajectory of Cotopaxi while contributing to its mission of using business as a force for good.

 

Job Responsibilities (How You’ll Do It):

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecasting process, ensuring alignment with company targets and strategic goals. 
  • Analyze revenue streams across different products/channels, regions, and customer segments to identify trends and areas for growth.
  • Design and manage financial reports and interactive dashboards to highlight key metrics for senior leadership decision-making.
  • Partner with business units to understand operational drivers and deliver accurate, actionable forecasts.
  • Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly internal reports in addition to board presentations.
  • Analyze historical data, forecast future performance, and explain budget-to-actual variances.
  • Evaluate analysis results to recommend strategic actions for investments, sourcing, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze gross margin performance, identifying key drivers, variances, and opportunities for margin improvement. 
  • Leverage customer data and analytics to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) such as customer lifetime value (CLTV), churn rates, and acquisition costs, providing insights that drive revenue forecasting, pricing strategies, and targeted margin improvements.
  • Work closely with sales, operations, and product teams to understand cost structures and optimize pricing strategies.
  • Provide thorough reports on actual performance versus budget, supplemented with ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  • Monitor internal controls, identifying deficiencies and offering actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis to support strategic planning, special projects, and management reporting, communicating findings clearly.
  • Safeguard the organization’s confidential information and ensure compliance with data privacy standards.
  • Stay current with industry best practices through professional development, networking, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in special projects, generate custom reports, and enhance existing FP&A tools while evaluating and recommending additional solutions.
 

The Ideal Candidate (What You Need to Succeed):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional finance experience, ideally within FP&A.
  • Demonstrated success in managing the FP&A function with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Proven experience working with DTC and B2B companies in the consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Advanced expertise in 3-statement financial modeling, including a deep understanding of financial reporting and cash flow analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and the full MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Experience with large ERP/financial systems, preferably NetSuite.
  • Familiarity with FP&A tools such as Datarails, Vena, or similar platforms; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and statistical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization, from executives to individual contributors.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Passion for process improvement and a continuous growth mindset.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
