Position Overview: 

Verra Mobility is actively seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to join our team, driving efficiency and innovation in engineering processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, be able to troubleshoot systems, provide technical support, develop engineers, and create efficient engineering processes. This role involves prioritizing tasks, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and utilizing agile workflows and tools like Jira and Miro.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshoot hardware and system designs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring they have the tools and knowledge needed to excel.
  • Develop and implement processes that enhance engineering efficiency, streamline workflows, and promote best practices utilizing methodologies such as Kaizen for continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize tasks and projects effectively, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of engineering solutions.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong partnerships and clear communication to align project goals and objectives.
  • Lead the charge in developing advanced hardware solutions, with a focus on cameras, radars, batteries, and mechatronics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pioneer new solutions and enhance existing ones.
  • Maintain partnerships with third-party design firms, driving collaborative efforts to innovate and integrate cutting-edge hardware components. Set clear expectations and ensure alignment with project objectives and quality standards.
  • Drive the seamless integration of innovative hardware solutions across product development and manufacturing phases. Streamline processes to optimize hardware manufacturability, scalability, and innovation.
  • Utilize agile workflows and tools such as Jira to manage engineering projects, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to changing requirements.
  • Oversee system design processes, ensuring robust and scalable solutions are developed and integrated effectively.
  • Familiarity with software design processes and workflows, ensuring smooth integration between hardware and software components.
  • Implement visual management techniques using tools like Miro to enhance team communication and project tracking.
  • Conduct Gemba walks to observe and understand the work process, identify areas for improvement, and implement Problem Solving Reports (PSR) to address and resolve issues.
  • Oversee rigorous testing and evaluation procedures to ensure the reliability, performance, and compliance of innovative hardware systems. Analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and drive iterative improvements. Document findings and progress reports.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of management experience with proven success in leading teams and developing engineers such as Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Embedded Engineering, etc.
  • At least 10+ years of  experience in hardware engineering, with a focus on troubleshooting, technical support, process improvement, and system design.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities emphasizing accountability, fostering innovation, and effectively leading teams towards achieving groundbreaking hardware solutions.
  • Proven experience in leading third-party design collaborations, setting clear expectations, and ensuring alignment with project goals and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in integrating innovative hardware solutions into final products, optimizing for manufacturability, scalability, and innovation.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design principles, CAD software, and simulation tools for design and analysis. Familiarity with agile workflows and tools such as Jira and Miro.
  • Understanding of software design processes and workflows, enabling effective collaboration between hardware and software development teams
  • Experience with Kaizen, Gemba walks, and Problem Solving Reports (PSR) to drive continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
