Responsibilities:
A fast-growing, mid-sized government contractor is seeking a dynamic, experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to gain exposure to and expertise in all aspects of accounting and finance at a growing company.
Please note this is a remote position and we are looking for local candidates.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and train a staff of one Sr Accountant
- Manage month-end close, including accounts payable, cash receipts, general ledger, labor distribution. Ensure monthly accounting calendar deadlines are met.
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payroll; work with HR to ensure all employee deductions, garnishments, and other benefits are accurate and complete before processing
- Supervise billing and ensure all customer invoices are accurate and timely
- Review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis and resolve issues
- Assist with new hire on-boarding and off-boarding process by creating and maintaining employee records
- Maintain project accounting records and update as necessary when new contracts are awarded, or modifications received.
- Execute internal controls and help maintain a compliant DCAA Accounting System
- Support accurate and efficient transaction processing in compliance with the policies and practices. Make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the department
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance field is required
- 6-8 years of relevant work experience, government contracting experience is preferred.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required
- Excellent computer and analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Must be flexible, energetic, independent, a quick learner with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence.
- Self-motivated and works effectively under pressure, detail and deadline-oriented, multi-tasking abilities a must.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills – an ability to identify, analyze, and help resolve issues timely.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks going on simultaneously, with overlapping responsibilities and firm due dates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of staff & management.

- Fine repetitive motor skills with hands, wrists, and fingers in coordination with eyes.

- Other: Work may be performed in an office environment, which may involve frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times.
