Position Title: Medical Biller – Mental Health Specialist

Location: Arizona Based/Virtual Employee

Employment Type: Full-time

About Us:

Ellie Mental Health is a compassionate and client-focused mental health practice dedicated to providing exceptional care to our clients. We are seeking an Arizona based, detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller specializing in mental health to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate and efficient billing, allowing our clinicians to focus on providing care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and submit claims to insurance providers for mental health services rendered.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including following up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals.
  • Ensure coding accuracy with CPT and ICD-10 codes and modifiers specific to mental health services.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare billing standards.
  • Communicate with clients regarding billing inquiries and provide support with payment plans when necessary.
  • Collaborate with therapists and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a medical biller, with a focus on mental health billing preferred.
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software (Valant and Waystar experience is a plus!).
  • In-depth knowledge of mental health CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Strong understanding of insurance processes, including authorizations and reimbursement procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Background in coding for AHCCCS clients.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CPB) is a plus.
  • Experience working with private practices or mental health facilities.
  • Familiarity with AHCCCS, Medicare, and commercial insurance policies.
