Job description

Allied Advocate Supervisor

Position Summary

Assist the Management Team with monitoring and managing the daily work and other functions within the Department and training for new and existing department staff.  Planning and maintaining workflows, procedures and policies that enable and encourage the team's optimum performance.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to and apply all applicable privacy and security laws, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act), HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) and any regulations promulgated thereto. 
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals.   
  • Enhance communication via effective team meetings and employee one on ones.
  • Ensure team performance meets or exceeds claim timeliness and quality standards.
  • Foster a sense of urgency and commitment to achieve goals resulting in the ability to influence the organization to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Identify trends and partner with Management to make recommendations and improve operational performance.
  • Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.  
  • Maintain a positive work environment through employee recognition and interaction.
  • Maintain employee work schedules including assignments and training.
  • Manage special projects.
  • Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by management.
  • Monitor all reports within the department to ensure work is being handled timely and accurately.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training of team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Strategize, plan, organize, and execute efficient inventory management.
  • Work in conjunction with other Supervisors to allocate and adjust team resources as required.
  • Work to develop standard department metrics, audits, training guides, and best practices.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma, College and Advanced Degrees Preferred. 
  • Continuing education in all areas affecting group health and welfare plans is required. 

Experience And Skills

  • Knowledge of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and/or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes required. 
  • 5+ years’ experience analyzing healthcare claims (processing claims) Required. 
  • Ability to multi-task, this includes ability to understand multiple products, multiple levels of benefits within each product and work within multiple systems. 
  • At least three years supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
