Questel is looking for an Intellectual Property Knowledge Management Specialist (KMS) who will work closely with business unit leaders, product development teams and other company personnel to create and introduce knowledge management solutions with an emphasis on collecting and interpreting intellectual property rules and best practices for use in Questel services and SaaS products. 


As part of your role, you fulfill the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify, create and implement internal knowledge management solutions.
  • Organize and centralize intellectual property rule and best-practices knowledge from different Questel business units for consumption by Questel Shared Services.
  • Interpret intellectual property rules for product teams, developers and other Questel personnel.
  • Curate and create content documenting best practices for carrying out intellectual property services.
  • Provide guidance on intellectual property docketing rules, maintenance of rule databases and law engines.
  • Ensure rule and law content is kept current and readily accessible via company tools and content sharing platforms.
  • Develop tools to assist in more efficiently storing, locating and maintaining up-to-date content.
  • Provide training on knowledge management tools and resources.
  • Provide information and guidance to Product Owners and Developers during the creation of Intellectual Property software products.
  • Provide advice to internal teams on intellectual property rules and rule changes.
  • Identify and evaluate existing Intellectual Property management procedures
  • Lead improvement initiatives
  • Establish controls to maintain the integrity of implemented process and knowledge management procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the successful implementation of solutions and service delivery
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and best practices improvement

✅ Experience in patent or trademark legal research or knowledge management required. Attorney, patent/trademark agent or senior paralegal preferred, but not mandatory. In addition, any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of patent and trademark office rules and procedures.
  • Extensive experience with patent or trademark docketing rules.
  • Ability to interpret legal texts and intellectual property rules for non-specialist consumption.
  • Experience creating legal form templates, precedents and creating best practices around their use.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft tools including Sharepoint, Power Automate and similar productivity tools.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact diplomatically with all levels of firm personnel
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to keep projects moving forward at own initiative
  • Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to define solutions to support and improve those processes

📍 Location: While no specific location is requested (either in France, UK, Germany, Slovenia, Belgium or Netherlands), travelling can be required to fulfill your role, as teams are located in different countries in the USA and Europe.
