Job Title: Product Owner
Reports To: Sr. Director, Project Management
Job Summary: The Grace Hill Product Owner is a highly collaborative individual that facilitates work between the product team and the technical teams (engineering, quality assurance, infrastructure, and development and operations) to define, implement, and maintain SaaS-based products and features. This individual is highly organized, analytical, and communicative, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Grace Hill Engineering has a diverse team spanning 2 continents, including several timezones in the continental US, with most team members working fully remotely. As a key member of the software development lifecycle, the product owner works creatively to ensure all team members receive the product guidance they need through the appropriate written and/or verbal communication means.
The product owner does whatever is needed to help the team understand problems, sort through solutions, and make clear decisions, constantly communicating to and with all stakeholders to get needed input and notifying teams about decisions, timing and rationale. The product owner provides critical connective tissue and detailed review/input to ensure daily excellence, timely adjustments, clear reporting and consistent progress in the product development process.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams from a product's conception all the way through to its maintenance post-launch.
- Set up and review usage analytics for our products: derive insights, report to all stakeholders and help operationalize findings into new product plans.
- Work with technical teams & product manager to write up stories for technical needs of new and existing products and features
- Maintaining internally-facing documentation of products
- Facilitate analyses of the technical viability of a product or feature as defined by the product manager
- Acquire, communicate, and track against product implementation timelines
- Communicate technical and non-technical requirements of products to the technical teams (software engineering, quality assurance, infrastructure, development and operations) through verbal and written means
- Write user stories, create user flows.
- Participate in daily scrum as product owner.
- Perform user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the product or feature implementation
- Collaborate with team members producing customer-facing user guides.
- Review and clarify defects for software maintenance.
Experience/Skills Required:
- Balance of technical and business understanding
- Experience with writing user stories and designing user flows.
- Proven delivery of working software in an agile development environment.
- Proven ability to drive a highly collaborative environment where teams meet tight deadlines.
- Proven ability to document decisions, report results effectively and make logical, data-driven product recommendations.
- Takes initiative to correctly define problems (technical, resource, or other) and persistently tracks down a solution
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Design or relevant technical experience a plus
