We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Integration Engineer to join our Data Services: Integration and Migration team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the client and internal Bitfocus staff to ensure accurate and efficient data integration into the system. The primary responsibilities will include working on the entire data integration process, from analyzing business requirements to designing and implementing solutions, managing project timelines, and ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.  

Also, the Data Integration Engineer will collaborate with the Data Engineers and Analysts, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure they meet project objectives. The candidate should have a passion for innovation, a strong concern for data integrity, and project management skills. A good understanding of data integration concepts, technologies, and tools is essential, along with experience working with external systems and data sources. Additionally, the candidate must have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation:

We are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including skills, qualifications, and professional experience, which can cause your compensation to vary. This role has an annual targeted total compensation range of $50,000 - $80,000, which includes variable compensation (bonus) eligibility.

About the Data Services Team:

Our Data Services team’s mission is to promote a data-driven decision-making culture to solve homelessness. We do this by combining a team of experts in data modeling, analytics, and integration with social services experience. From one-time data migrations into Clarity Human Services to real-time dashboarding, the Data Services team plays an integral role in supporting communities to make data-driven decisions.

As a Data Integration Engineer you will:
  • Migration Projects: Manage HUD and custom data migration projects, as well as special data migration projects, ensuring that data is accurately and efficiently integrated into the system.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, deploy, and implement tools necessary to improve data integration and migration processes. This includes identifying and evaluating new technologies, as well as improving existing tools and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Database Tools: Demonstrate a basic understanding of database management concepts, knowledge of data security tools/solutions, and proficiency in SQL, Data Integration tools, data transformation tools, and data analysis tools. Complete approved training in Database, Data Mining, Data Transformation, or Data Analysis to further enhance expertise in these areas.
  • Maintaining: Demonstrate operational knowledge of Clarity Human Services, an excellent understanding of Data Integration Tool, and operational understanding of Clarity Reports and Looker. This includes maintaining tools necessary for data integration, such as standard operating procedures, support and maintenance plans, quality assurance processes, training plans, and data management processes.
  • Migration: Perform HUD data migrations, analysis, mapping, transformations, and Quality Assurance processes, as well as Clarity custom migration, Custom Data Analysis, Custom Data transformations, and complex HUD migrations. Troubleshooting complex HUD migrations, custom migration, and Data Integration Tool usage and issues, including custom script work in Clarity. Ensure timely communication on project progress, keeping management informed of key issues and risks in the data migration/integration process.
  • Clarity Human Services Integration: Participate in integration initiatives within Clarity Human Services, aligning practices with long-term business objectives. Collaborates with teams to ensure optimal data exchange and adherence to integration standards. Contribute in achieving integration excellence, implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Custom Script: Perform scripts to correct, update, integrate and delete data in Clarity Human Services
  • DIT support: Acts as a subject matter expert and liaison within Clarity Human Services on Data Integration tool, and provide support as needed
  • Other Projects: Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Data Integration Manager.
What you bring:
  • Remote Work: Ability to work in a remote work environment, with the ability to work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Database Management: Good understanding of MariaDB/MySQL database management system with demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain complex data integration pipelines.
  • ETL: Good understanding of ETL tools such as PDI, Informatica, Talend, and similar software.
  • Data Analytics/Visualizations: Good understanding of data analytics and visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • HMIS: Has a good understanding of Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS), HUD CSV and XML, data dictionary, and data security practices, including how Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is shared and stored. Possesses a strong understanding of social services and HMIS data models and processes.
  • Communication: Skilled in the following:
    • Guiding communication efforts to ensure clear and consistent integration-related updates to stakeholders while balancing communication needs with project priorities and organizational goals.
    • Achieving communication excellence, implementing strategies for transparency and alignment across integration projects.
    • Skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams and aligning communication strategies with business goals.
    • Shaping global communication strategies, positioning the organization as a leader in communicating integration insights.
    • Collaborating with industry partners and establishing communication standards and presenting strategies to the board of directors.
    • Effectively conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating remote meetings, and collaborations.

  • Agile: Skilled in agile development methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA or Trello is a plus.
