Location(s): Associate Director – Health Systems, US Remote East
Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Health Systems primary responsibilities are to enable distribution to grow demand of our approved drug to treat patients with PNH (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria) and our future Nephrology indication(s). Pull through where appropriate to execute and implement contracts related to assigned Health System accounts. Additional responsibilities are to ensure Apellis’ product is positioned within GPOs and affiliated members, if appropriate, establish strategic business relationships with key customers, C-Suite officers, and pharmacy; engage with Health Systems and Medical team members and/or other stakeholders as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, initiate and secure distribution, as well as negotiate and manage profitable business objectives with assigned accounts
- Meet with senior level executives at assigned accounts to identify opportunities
- Execute upon set Strategic Account Management strategy and ensure that individual business goals and objectives for assigned accounts are achieved
- Negotiate, manage, and coordinate contract evaluation and implementation at assigned accounts, if appropriate
- Develop and present educational information and contract proposals to assigned accounts, if appropriate
- Identify and develop opportunities to align brand initiatives with GPO capabilities that align with our brand objectives (educational programs and conferences, patient identification initiatives)
- Monitor performance to sales to ensure objectives are met
- Create and regularly update Account Business Plans
- Identify opportunities at key Health Systems to provide distribution and access to accounts
- Develop strong business-centric, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Education, Registration & Certification:
- BA/BS required
- MBA preferred
Experience:
- Ten or more years of experience in complex pharmaceutical customer facing roles, specifically in Hematology/Oncology, nephrology and/or rare diseases Health Systems, GPOs, managed care and/or trade
- Two to three years of channel strategy experience, specifically strategy execution, distribution, negotiation, and management of channel stakeholders
- Expertise in working with IDNs, Health Systems and GPOs, ensuring products are on formulary and understanding product sequencing protocols
- Demonstrated success in negotiating, executing, implementing contracts
