About the Opportunity 

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and serving as a key member of the Comprehensive Campaign Team, the Senior Development Director, Individual Giving position advances the mission of the Clinton Foundation (“Foundation”) through the engagement of individual donors who are targets for the Foundation’s Comprehensive Campaign (CFCC). Specifically, this includes managing and coordinating the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors making a minimum of six-figure gifts, by building and managing a portfolio of current foundation donors and new prospects.

The Development team works to secure the philanthropic resources necessary to advance the Foundation’s mission through its programs and operations. The team works closely with volunteers and colleagues from across the organization to present the Foundation’s case for support through gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Team members collaborate to maximize engagement and giving from individual donors and institutional funders alike. 

Core Responsibilities  

Direct 

  • Under the direction of the CDO, the Senior Development Officer manages and grows an assigned portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors with targeted annual and multi-year giving of $250,000 - $5,000,000 to meet established goals. 
  • Engages in the direct cultivation and solicitation of donors and prospects, including through in-person meetings, telephone, written solicitations/proposals, email, and other means tailored as specifically as possible to donor preferences. 
  • Works with CDO, the CFCC team, and other Development staff in the identification, qualification, and strategic cultivation of new, high net-worth individuals with both philanthropic capacity and propensity to support the Foundation at the major gift level. 

PIPELINE MANAGEMENT 

  • Manages a portion of the CFCC’s pipeline, developing the lower-tier strategy to meet the Foundation’s CFCC goals. This includes working closely with colleagues across the Foundation to conceive and implement targeted communications and engagement strategies, stewardship, and tailored events/experiences.  
  • Utilizes the Foundation’s CRM database and other available research and analytical tools to identify, qualify, segment, cultivate, solicit, and steward the portfolio to maximize philanthropic giving and deepen donors’ engagement with the Foundation. This includes recording all significant donor interactions and moves management activities in CRM database. 
  • Tracks gifts and pledge commitments within the assigned portfolio and reconciles gift activity with quarterly donor disclosure and other reporting. Monitors pledge reminders, receipting, and acknowledgement processes for timeliness and accuracy.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT 

  • Assists the Development team with any special projects, especially those related to individual giving, including but not limited to fundraising events.  
  • Participate in overall Development Team planning and budgeting as requested and manages expenses within budget and/or applicable policies. 

Minimum Qualifications  

What we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 11 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility. At least 2-3 of those years must have been directing a team or multiple projects or a function and ; 5-7 years individual giving or similar fundraising experience in a similar role at an organization of comparable size and complexity.
  • Demonstrated success in individual giving required. Portfolio management experience required.
  • Proficient with CRM systems, MSOffice, and Internet required.
  • Knowledge of relevant analytical tools and wealth screening beneficial. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, and work on multiple time zones, as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a varying schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays. 

Compensation & Benefits 

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $160 - 170K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This role is not for overtime pay.
