Overview:

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Senior Business Development Manager.  This position will be remote in either Washington State, Colorado, Oregon, or California with travel as required..  This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city. 

 

The Business Development Executive is responsible for overseeing the process of business development within their company to promote its longevity. Their duties include working closely with other company executives and management teams, meeting with potential business partners and maintaining existing client relationships and monitoring market trends to come up with new business ventures.

Shimmick is a national Contractor that has an excellent reputation within the industry and is seeking a qualified individual to join our Southwest Division.  Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding/constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge.

Responsibilities:

For the role of Business Development Executive, the ideal candidate should be a self-motivated individual who will work independently and in collaboration with other Shimmick teams to drive pipeline, sales and revenue targets. A Business Development Executive typically has the following daily responsibilities:

 

1. Client Relations

Identifying and developing relationships with clients, articulating Shimmick’ s value proposition and positioning the company for a project wins and long-term client relationships. This includes:

a. Managing virtual and in-person sales meetings

b. Running outbound campaigns (phone calls, emails, etc.) to create sales opportunities

c. Preparing and delivering pitches and presentations to potential new clients customized for each client’s specific business needs

d. Developing rapport with key decision makers

e. Communicating with clients to understand their needs and offer solutions to their problems

f. Ensuring excellent customer service through regular client follow up

g. Creating positive, long-lasting relationships with current and potential clients

2. Stakeholder / Industry Relations

a. Developing industry relationships across the supply chain, including joint venture partners, A/E firms, subcontractors, community leaders and others

b. Analyzing strengths and weaknesses of potential partnership and advise management on the most beneficial relationships and strategy for the desired outcomes

c. Attend and participate in industry outreach and informational events to gain local contacts and identify possible project work for the Company.

3. Sales Management

a. Managing a high quality CRM based sales pipeline

b. Understanding the commercial interests of the company and negotiating directly or advising management in contract negotiations for the most effective risk profile for the company.

c. Ensuring the company has the necessary pipeline size and quality to support revenue and sales targets.

d. Developing short-mid-long term sales projections and presenting to management and the company Board when requested.

e. Owning the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementation

3. Sales Management

a. Managing a high quality CRM based sales pipeline

b. Understanding the commercial interests of the company and negotiating directly or advising management in contract negotiations for the most effective risk profile for the company.

c. Ensuring the company has the necessary pipeline size and quality to support revenue and sales targets.

d. Developing short-mid-long term sales projections and presenting to management and the company Board when requested.

e. Owning the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementation

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, Economics, or related field + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Infrastructure construction industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions.
  • Proven ability to manage sales pipelines and develop pursuit strategy for complex infrastructure or similar projects.
  • Proven ability to initiate and develop personal and professional relationships in the industry.
  • Able to identify, prioritize, organize and track construction projects at every segment of the project lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to identify inconsistencies or outliers in contract specifications that could increase Company risk or expense.
  • Proven ability to identify, measure and facilitate the needs of the Owner during the pre-bid, bid and project phases to support positive Company relationship through the life of the project.

 

 Additional Information:

 The salary range for this position is between $160,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year depending on experience and/or education.
