Are you up for the challenge?
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineer specializing in systolic multiplier architectures for AI training applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the design, analysis, and modeling of systolic arrays, with a strong understanding of the trade-offs involved. Knowledge of integrating such architectures into instruction set architectures (ISA) such as RISC-V, ARM (SME), or x86 (AMX) is highly advantageous. This role involves conducting independent analyses of architectural proposals and developing innovative improvements or implementations to meet evolving AI training needs.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development on systolic multiplier arrays tailored for AI training workloads.
- Evaluate known architectural trade-offs, including power, performance, and area (PPA), to optimize design for training applications.
- Perform modeling and simulation of systolic arrays to predict performance and suitability for various AI training scenarios.
- Explore and implement integration strategies for systolic multiplier architectures into ISAs, such as RISC-V, ARM (SME), or x86 (AMX).
- Assess the impact of ISA-level extensions on performance, compatibility, and ease of programming for AI workloads.
- Collaborate with ISA architects to ensure seamless integration and utilization of systolic arrays.
- Critically assess architectural proposals for systolic arrays and their suitability for specific AI training applications.
- Propose and develop novel improvements or custom implementations to address gaps or enhance existing designs.
- Validate architectural proposals and improvements through rigorous benchmarking and testing.
- Stay abreast of advancements in AI hardware and systolic architectures, leveraging this knowledge to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to align systolic architectures with broader system-level goals.
- Contribute to technical publications, patents, and internal knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, with a focus on AI hardware or systolic architectures.
Expertise in designing, analyzing, and modeling systolic multiplier arrays for AI training, with an understanding of power, performance, and area (PPA) trade-offs.
Experience integrating systolic architectures into ISAs like RISC-V, ARM (SME), or x86 (AMX), and evaluating ISA-level extension impacts on performance and compatibility.
Skilled in modeling, simulating, and validating systolic arrays for AI workloads, and proposing improvements based on performance benchmarks.
Strong collaboration with hardware and software teams to align architectures with system-level goals and contribute to research publications and patents.
Ability to work independently on architectural proposals, driving innovation and custom implementations for AI training applications.
