Responsibilities
  • Formulate and execute strategies to engage with utility companies, aligning with company goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility companies, regulators, and other stakeholders. This often includes negotiating agreements and securing necessary approvals.

  • Oversee utility-related projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. This includes coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

  • Lead negotiations for power purchase agreements, grid connections, and other utility services. Ensure favorable terms and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure that all projects and processes comply with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and environmental policies.

  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics to inform strategy and decision-making.

  • Provide guidance to broader commercial team on technical aspects of utility engagement, such as power infrastructure, grid stability, and energy efficiency.

  • Broader support to the Commercial organization as required

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned at any time

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, and independent system operators (ISOs)/regional transmission organizations (RTOs).

  • Awareness of local, state, and federal regulations and compliance requirements related to energy projects.

  • Ability to work directly with executives and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization

  • Adept at identifying issues and proposing and executing effective solutions.

  • Strong skills in negotiating power purchase agreements, utility contracts, and partnership deals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing industry trends, technologies, and regulatory environments.

​Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, energy management, business administration, or related field required.

  • 10+ years in roles related to utility management, energy projects, or similar required

Travel
  • Local Travel: More than 50%

  • Overnight/North America: More than 50%

  • Other International Travel

Working Conditions
  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.  Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Customer/Partner Locations – Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
