Job Title:            Senior Manager, Development Engineering

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Development Engineering will be responsible for delivering critical strategic guidance and planning efforts to core DevOps, Automation Framework and Tools development capabilities. This role will drive the continuous integration of cross functional capabilities that will enable Insulet to establish a world class continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline. This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Director, DevOps and Test Automation.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and Implement Improvements: Lead the DevOps team in transforming and scaling pipeline solutions, focusing on mission-critical feedback loops to accelerate product delivery.
  • Player-Coach Leadership: Operate as a player-coach, guiding a team of DevOps engineers to enhance pipeline maturity from development through production on an AWS Cloud Platform.
  • Strategic Vision and Roadmap: Develop and drive a clear vision and strategic roadmap to improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of end-to-end release delivery and validation.
  • Future-Proofing Technology: Identify, present, and implement strategies for technology and lab expansion to support Insulet’s future product roadmap.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure critical deployment automation and release management infrastructure meets operational excellence standards to support continuous validation and release processes.
  • Customer-Focused Automation: Ensure the team responds to internal customer automation and integration requirements in a timely and flexible manner.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Culture of Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Resource Management: Manage and prioritize the budget, resources, and timelines to ensure successful team execution.
  • Quality and Regulatory Compliance: Drive the team to meet critical quality and regulatory requirements across all deliverables.

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Background: BS degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience or 8-10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Automation Expertise: Proven success in driving improvements in automation of continuous integration and continuous delivery as a team leader.
  • IAC Design and Application Deployment : Experience managing a team that defines and scales IAC and application code pipelines, deep experience in leveraging monitoring solutions and feedback loops to enable transparency and speed of execution.
  • Proven Experience as a Technical Agile Leader: Deep experience creating deployment strategies, features & user stories and enabling transformative workflows.
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience in Linux-based and/or MacOS command line environments (system administration skills a plus).
  • Build and Packaging Systems: Experience leading a team installing, administering, and automating build and packaging systems for software distribution (e.g., CircleCI, Jenkins).
  • Issue Management Systems: Experience leading a team installing, administering, and automating software defect and scrum issue management systems (e.g., Jira).
  • Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Static Analysis Tools: Experience leading a team installing and administering static analysis tools.

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced Experience: BS degree with 10-15 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience collaborating and responding to multiple releases in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams of 100+ developers and partners.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate at multiple levels of an organization.
  • Inspirational Leadership: A passionate, inspirational leader who leads with an enterprise mindset, challenges the status quo, and aligns the organization behind a clear vision and strategy.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Strong emotional intelligence and ability to engage and lead others through change to advance new ways of working.
  • Team Building: Experience building high-performance teams, driving accountability, empowerment, customer centricity, and collaboration across functions and teams.
  • Talent Development: Demonstrated success in attracting, growing, and developing talent.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in MedTech, Fintech, or other regulated industries is a plus.

Additional Information 

  • The position can be remote, hybrid or in-person at our San Diego, CA location.
  • Travel is estimated at 20% but will be flexible depending on business need. 

Physical Requirements (if applicable):

  • It is expected that you can travel to Insulet’s San Diego (CA), Acton (MA) or Tijuana (MX) offices at least twice per quarter to support critical planning and executive coordination activities.

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,050.00 - $222,075.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
