The Medicare and Medicaid Cost Report & Reimbursement Specialist will play a pivotal role in Stellar Senior Living’s Government Reimbursement Function.
- The specialist will oversee the completion of Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports and other government financial filings for our skilled nursing facilities, as well as support subsequent audits.
- Additionally, the specialist will assist in handling communication with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), CO Medicaid agencies, and other government entities and related contractors on matters concerning financial filings, audits, and reimbursement topics.
The successful candidate will work independently to complete filings and audits within the required time frames, with moderate to minimal oversight.
- This role demands a high degree of expertise in Medicaid and Medicare Cost Report instructions, data inputs, and familiarity with updates to Medicare and Medicaid regulations related to reimbursement.
- Additionally, the specialist must understand finance and accounting principles, particularly as they apply to skilled nursing facilities, such as charity care and bad debt write-offs. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with Colorado Medicaid.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):
- B.S. Degree in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, OR a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry.
- Demonstrated experience in Cost Report preparation and review.
- Comprehensive knowledge of government payor reimbursement regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of skilled nursing facility reimbursement systems.
- Familiarity with Colorado and Wyoming Medicaid Waiver programs and related reporting requirements.
- Experience working with government audit processes.
- Open to travel and attending conferences.
- Case Mix Index (CMI) experience a plus
