Arkos Health is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our team! 

The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for protecting the organization’s legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. They will provide expert legal support by drafting, amending, and negotiating complex healthcare contracts with an emphasis on value-based care (VBC). The Corporate Counsel will support the organization by delivering hands-on counsel to all levels of the executive staff and assists in managing the operations of the legal department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and support throughout the organization and to the executive team
  • Draft and review complex health plan payor contracts and assists with business negotiations that minimize risk
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for a variety of strategic business tractions (mergers, acquisitions, etc.), leases, and commercial contracts
  • Manage several legal specialties which may include, but are not limited to healthcare, mergers and acquisitions, contract law, managed care (particularly VBC), privacy and HIPAA, corporate governance, and intellectual property
  • Assist with corporate governance, strategy, creation of affiliate and subsidiary entities, and reporting
  • Assist in supporting compliance programs (OIG/SAMS/anti-kickback statute, fraud and abuse, corporate practice of medicine, and Stark Law) and other compliance issues
  • Participate in the development and improvement of corporate and compliance policies, procedures, and programs
  • Identify, research, and analyze legal issues, drafts key documents, present clear recommendations to top management, and assure legal compliance in a healthcare setting
  • Respond and resolve sensitive inquiries from the executive team and external sources
  • Assist in managing outside counsel and reduce outside counsel spend
  • Manage various special projects and deadlines as directed by department leadership
  • Assist outside counsel with litigation and participate in discovery or mediation as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal legislation and jurisprudence affecting healthcare programs and activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the organization


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Must be admitted and in good standing with at least one state bar
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong preference for payor contracting with an emphasis on VBC- compensation and risk arrangements, Medicaid, and Medicare
  • Strong analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
  • Computer Skills: able to utilize necessary programs to ensure effective communication, collection of metrics, and proprietary software; including but not limited to: Microsoft product suite, Adobe Suite
