We are building our Design team, looking for an experienced and talented Senior UX UI Designer
This role is ideal for someone who excels in navigating evolving situations and enjoys the opportunity to help shape processes and drive design direction. You'll take ownership of your work, lead design efforts, and contribute to the continuous growth of our design practice.
As a Senior Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role primarily in working as a designer on projects, but also in shaping how we work. We’re looking for someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, building and refining designs and constantly seeking better ways of doing things. You will be a champion for design and be part of realizing a vision that aligns with the broader purpose and values of the company.
Major Accountabilities
Design Delivery (UX)
  • Research: Lead user and business research activities such as interviews, workshops, and process analysis in alignment with strategic objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and build alignment on goals, methodology, and approach
  • Solutioning: Apply design thinking methodologies, tools and techniques to solve complex design challenges. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates to integrate design solutions into overall project strategy
  • Prototyping: Oversee the creation and refinement of user workflows and wireframes to validate the structure and functionality of the application
  • Testing & Validation: Plan for and conduct user validation efforts such as usability testing to gather insights on opportunities for enhancements. Refine and iterate on designs accordingly, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Requirements: Support an agile and user centred approach to gathering, validating and documenting business and user requirements through tools like process flows, personas, and user journey maps
Design Delivery (UI)
  • Visual Design: Drive the creation of visual interfaces aligned with design standards that reflect innovation and creativity. Ensure designs are both aesthetically pleasing and also effectively communicate the desired user experience.
  • Standardization: Lead the development and maintenance of design systems, ensuring scalability and consistency across applications
  • Dev Alignment: Work closely with front-end developers, providing guidance to ensure alignment between design and development implementation. Conduct regular reviews to ensure the final product aligns with the intended design and experience
Teamwork
  • Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration within the project team, serving as a design authority to ensure a unified vision. Facilitate cross-functional workshops and ideation sessions to promote collaborative problem solving
  • Communication: Effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders design concepts and vision within projects, but also strategically around the purpose, mission and value proposition of design more broadly
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior team members, facilitating knowledge sharing and nurturing the growth of the design team
 Continuous Improvement
  • People: Support and shape learning initiatives for personal and the team development
  • Process: Innovate and refine design processes, aiming for continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness

Design Excellence
  • Shaping Process: Contribute to the evolution of the overall design practice, shaping and implementing best practices, principles, and frameworks
  • Design Evangelism: Identifies opportunities and supports efforts to educate, promote, and sell our design services and the value they deliver
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced UX/UI design principles
  • Expertise in industry-standard design frameworks and methodologies
  • Strategic thinking for aligning design efforts with overarching business goals
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills for articulating complex design concepts
  • Strong facilitation skills to effectively lead workshops
  • Proficiency in utilizing a wide range of design tools (eg. Figma, Miro)
  • Understanding of agile principles and their strategic application in the design process
  • Leadership skills for guiding and mentoring junior team members
  • Comfortable building processes and frameworks from scratch
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality

Qualifications
  • Post secondary degree in design, related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 plus years of successful experience in UX and UI design
  • Demonstrated experience applying advanced UX/UI design principles
  • Proven expertise in the application of industry-standard design frameworks and methodologies
  • Proven ability to work in an evolving, fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
  • Track record of successfully utilizing a wide range of design tools
  • Documented experience in leading effective workshops
  • Evidence of strategic thinking that has positively impacted design efforts and business goals
