About the team:
The Growth Data Science team is responsible for delivering high-quality measurement tools and predictive analytics to support data-driven decision making and to enable automation across all growth functions within Wealthsimple. The team consists of data scientists and analytics developers with diverse experiences and educational backgrounds such as math, operations research, economics, computer science, engineering and business.
We achieve these goals by:
-Using decision science to understand the cause and effect of our business decisions.
-Leveraging machine learning and algorithms to help Wealthsimple build smart financial products.
-Building a high quality and scalable state-of-the-art data warehouse that powers all decision making
What you will do: Partner with our Product, Marketing, Sales, and Engineering teams to support work across some of Wealthsimple’s highest priority effortsDesign and execute experiments to evaluate new product features and drive business decisionsApply statistical techniques and build machine learning models to solve real life product problems and to inform product strategiesTranslate business requirements into data models and analyses that will help stakeholders answer key business questions and inform strategic decisionsBuild robust, efficient, and integrated data models in cloud data warehouse that will be used as the source of truth for analytics across the Growth organizationApply software best practices like version control and continuous integration to the analytics code base; ensure data models are well testing, documented and maintainedContinuously look for the simplest, most effective way to approach challenges; Occam’s razor is your friendTake ownership and ship itWork where you are (while our Canadian offices are located in Toronto, we are a remote-first workforce and you can join from anywhere in Canada!) Who you are: Strong business acumen and product senseExcellent Python & SQL skills, first hand experience working with popular Python libraries such as Pandas, scikit-learn, numpy and JupyterStrong understanding of statistics: both frequentist and Bayesian approachesStrong understanding of fundamental machine learning algorithms: e.g. regression and decision treesAble to articulate their stance in a manner that effectively collaborates with different stakeholdersAdjusts quickly to changing priorities and effectively manages complexity and changeHas exceptional communication skills and is able to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical teamsIs eager to teach and learn from your team.
