Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY  
The Coordinator, Platoon Operations, will support Platoon Operation Managers and will help ensure that data and communications align with TMC standards and contribute to the overall efficiency of the team. This role collaborates with Platoon Operations leadership to assess volunteer needs and develop innovative ideas, ensuring a positive and impactful experience for volunteers. 
 
This role is full-time, temporary employment, at-will, and does not give you rights to a permanent staff position at The Mission Continues. The scheduled end date will be four months following the start date. On or before a month prior to the end date, The Mission Continues will evaluate whether to extend terms or transition to permanent employment. As a temporary employee of ours, you are eligible and encouraged to compete for ongoing or renewable positions for which you are qualified.  What else? You will be eligible to join The Mission Continues' health benefits plan. Includes full medical, dental, vison and life insurance coverage and voluntary retirement plan. You will receive paid holiday time off (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, etc.), but you will not be eligible for paid vacation. Instead, you will receive 2 personal days. Your sick time will be prorated from your start date through the end of the term of temporary employment.

This individual will work remotely but is required to reside in either Atlanta GA, Washington DC, Miami or Fort Lauderdale FL, and/or St. Louis MO.  While there will be platoons in your city, you will support a team of platoon managers remotely and will need to build the relationships and tools to ensure that they are supported and able to work independently, all while maintaining alignment with the values and mission of the organization.   
  
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 
Support Platoon Volunteer Operations (75%) 
- Support the veteran volunteer experience by adding value to implementing operational improvements, screening volunteer applications. 
- Support the volunteer process by implementing operational improvements and monitoring for volunteer compliance with program requirements, such as tracking training tracking and documentation review. 
- Support in-person and virtual logistics for volunteer onboarding and training. 
- Provide guidance and resources to Platoon Operations Managers and platoons to enhance their social media presence, ensuring consistent and effective communication of activities and events. 
- Maintain and manage accurate tracking of storage, volunteer records in Salesforce and other data sources. 
- Create and update operational materials, manuals, and resources as needed. 
- Ensure clear and consistent communication with volunteers and the Platoon Operations team. 
- Provide ongoing support to volunteers through managing the platoon operations support inbox. 
- Support Platoon Operations Managers with Salesforce Data entry to ensure accurate and timely record keeping.  

Contribute to Cross-Functional Project Teams (20%) 
- Serve as a project contributor on the platoon operations cross-functional project team(s), working alongside MarCom, Tech and regional colleagues to build out deliverables related to veteran volunteer experience. 
- Example project deliverables include: Asana updating, Salesforce data entry, Communication Templates, Volunteer training agendas, Volunteer training attendance trackers, Volunteer progress trackers, Internal process documentation 
- Assist Managers or the Director, Platoon Operations with special projects and assignments and take on any other responsibilities not specifically identified above on an as needed basis.

- Ability to tackle challenges and unfamiliar scenarios head-on with a solutions-oriented, flexible, and curious approach. You are willing to try new things and actively seek to understand multiple perspectives. 
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with database operations. 
- A passionate, culturally competent individual who can successfully work with diverse groups and individuals regardless of race, gender, income, identity, sexuality, disability, and veteran status. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
- Military service a plus  
- Experience in community-facing organizations a plus  
   
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 
Willingness to travel locally to support coaching opportunities and service in your community. National training and events can be expected to require 2-7 days in cities across the country and are based on team and staffing needs. Multi-day and/or weekend travel will be required for program event dates, flex time is available.
