Job description

Symmetrio is actively recruiting for a Field Service Engineer for its client, a leading multi-national medical device company. This role focuses on leading the installation, commissioning, and post-install support of advanced radiation therapy systems (Linear Accelerators). Projects typically span 4–6 weeks per site, requiring extended travel (75–80% of the time). The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with project coordination skills to ensure seamless deployment of complex medical equipment.

Candidates can reside anywhere within the United States, provided they are located within a two-hour drive of a major airport. This position offers per diem while traveling and includes opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site installations of linear accelerators, including assembly, calibration, and system validation, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and timelines.
  • Perform commissioning and post-install testing to verify equipment functionality, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (project managers, clinical specialists, etc.) to execute installations efficiently.
  • Provide customer training on operational protocols, safety procedures, and basic troubleshooting post-installation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installations, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, equipment configurations, and customer handoffs.
  • Manage travel logistics and tools/equipment for extended on-site assignments (4–6 weeks per project).
  • Uphold strict safety standards and compliance with hospital/environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent military experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, or repairing linear accelerators or similar high-complexity medical devices (radiation therapy equipment preferred).
  • Proficiency in electro-mechanical systems, vacuum systems, and software/networking troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to travel 75–80% of the time, including multi-week stays at customer sites nationwide.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet vendor credentialing requirements (background checks, immunizations, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage tools, parts, and documentation during installations.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer interactions and team collaboration.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
