Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Director, Program Management to drive the tactical implementation of our organization’s clinical-stage programs.  This Program Manager will partner with Project Team Leaders (PTLs) as well as specialized cross-functional working groups and own program and project timelines, and progress execution tracking and reporting. The Program Manager will report to the Head of Portfolio and Program Management. This individual will play an integral role in building and driving efficient and collaborative cross-functional teams to achieve effective execution of program goals. This is a critical and highly visible role, making a substantial contribution to the company. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with Project Team Leaders and sub-team leaders to develop and execute program strategies throughout the program life-cycle, from IND through all phases of clinical development
  • Facilitate program team meetings, creation of agendas, documentation of meeting outcomes and decisions, drive and track timely execution of follow up team activities and deliverables
  • Responsible for coordinating team communications and operations across core team and sub-teams
  • Develop timelines (Gantt charts) and integrated program plans for the tracking of program deliverables and task interdependencies
  • Coordinate preparation of high-quality program documents for governance, board of directors, or other forums’ reviews 
  • Design and implement integrated multidisciplinary program plans to allow data driven decision making
  • Work with Project Team Leaders to drive scenario-based development planning and strategy, and proactively identify and address programmatic gaps
  • Proactively identify program risks and resource limitations allowing for the development of mitigation and contingency planning
  • Lead the teams risk assessment at a program level and drive problem solving. Work with Project Team Leaders and teams to create strategies to manage risks, including risk acceptance, mitigation, and contingency planning.
  • Track progresses ensure clear goals and performance targets are in place, key milestones are met, proactively identify potential risks, create mitigation strategies where needed, and generate internal cross-functional progress updates.
  • Facilitate program team meetings, creation of agendas, documentation of meeting outcomes and decision making, drive and track timely execution of follow up team activities and deliverables
  • Liaise with finance and construct and track program budgets to align with organizational financial planning
  • Responsible for R&D project management processes including annual program goal setting & quarterly reviews, prioritization of key program objectives, go/no-go decisions, data reviews based on key milestones
  • Contribute to the evolution of program and portfolio best practices for improved processes and organizational efficiency
  • Partner with Project Team Leaders to create and maintain high-performing teams, fostering a positive, open, dynamic, collaborative, and creative environment

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the drug discovery and development process with prior experience in pharmaceutical project management
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline required, higher degree advantageous
  • 8+ years of biotech/pharma industry experience (or equivalent in academic setting), including minimum of 3-5 years with direct project management experience in biotechnology/pharma industries or academia (in a translational setting)
  • Proficiency with project management tools and software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage discovery and development programs in a dynamic, cross functional setting
  • Familiarity with the overall drug discovery and development process up to and including clinical trial initiation and execution
  • Evidence of advanced problem-solving, innovative thinking, strategic planning to deliver creative solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to form and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements and best practices
  • Willingness and dedication to go above and beyond in pursuit of team goals
  • Experience with large and small molecule therapeutics approaches beneficial
  • Neuropsychiatric and / or neurodegenerative disease area experience considered advantageous
  • Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) certification a plus

The salary range posted describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed.  Actual salary may vary based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Base Salary Range: $215,391-$228,900
