General Description:
 

We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative procurement professional to join our procurement team- commercial sector. This individual will lead procurement activities in Europe including sales &marketing and MICE and Travel. You understand the Europe Market and have 5 years of procurement experience (and at least 2 years leading procurement initiatives in sales and marketing), the ideal candidate will bring expertise in navigating complex supplier landscapes, leveraging trade-offs between cost and quality, and managing stakeholder relationships across international markets.

The location of this role is Basel, Switzerland

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Execution:
    • Support Business from procurement sourcing and negotiation for Commercial subcategories, including but not limited to creative services, advisory boards, market research, meetings and events, media and public relations, and digital initiatives.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and execute category strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, functional leadership, and suppliers to align procurement objectives with organizational needs.
    • Partner with General/Administrative functions (e.g., Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance) to ensure seamless sourcing strategies and implementation plans.
  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Provide local market intelligence to GCL on identifying category opportunities, execute initiatives, and contribute to the global standardization of procurement processes.
  • Supplier and Contract Management:
    • Drive supplier performance management to ensure high service levels and customer satisfaction.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts with a strong understanding of category-specific nuances.
  • Program Development:
    • Advocate for procurement value, enforce compliance, and integrate sustainable practices into procurement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in science or business preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in category procurement, with a minimum of 2 years in sales and marketing-related procurement subcategories.
  • Expertise in Commercial Oncology subcategories (creative, advisory boards, global congress, market research, media, medical services).
  • Familiarity with travel categories in the EU markets is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of market structures, key players, and cost/quality trade-offs.
  • Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-changing environments and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Language Skills:
    • Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
    • Proficiency in additional European languages is strongly preferred; Chinese is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Familiarity with procurement tools and travel data systems is a plus.
  • Strong ethical standards with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential data.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience working in multinational companies with exposure to both US and European markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage procurement processes across multiple regions and categories.

Travel:  5 -10%, some travel expected as part of assigned duties
