Job Title: Head of Marketing

The Business:

Founded by a team of financial experts and ex-MAT professionals, IMP Software has a deep understanding of the challenges facing multi-academy trusts. Our mission is to empower multi-academy trusts with the tools and expertise they need to manage their finances more efficiently and effectively. That's why we're trusted by trusts across the country to provide the only budgeting, forecasting, and reporting software designed specifically for them. From a standing start, in less than 5 years we are now used by most large trusts to help them deliver smarter MAT Finance.

Role Description:

IMP Software are looking for a passionate and experienced marketing leader that can help us transition from the market leader for our Primary product, IMP Planner, to a platform company with a range of value adding solutions, all supporting Multi Academy Trusts to do Smarter MAT Finance. The success we have had to date has been driven by us listening to our customers, developing first class solutions, and ensuring that we continue offer ‘best in class’ support. We also have a long-term view on our mission to be a key partner to MAT Finance teams, so ‘doing the right thing’ is something that is important to us. We must ensure that we retain these qualities as we grow.

As Head of Marketing, you will be responsible for devising and implementing the market strategy for IMP and its product portfolio. You will also be responsible for the success of all marketing activities across the company and work closely with the executive team, sales and product leaders to identify and develop business opportunities that deliver sustained and long-term business growth. You will have a clear vision for the marketing department and what it can achieve and mentor, develop and grow the team to deliver high quality, high value marketing outputs and planned ROI. This is a high-profile role, pivotal within the company and you will align closely with the board on developing and shaping the marketing strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the IMP brand, its messaging and identity and bringing stakeholders together to define and agree its evolution.
  • Work with stakeholders to create, agree and implement go-to-market strategies for IMP products.
  • Be an authority on our products, what they do and their USPs; our customers, why and how they buy; also, our competitor strengths and weaknesses.
  • Fully understand PEST factors within our sectors and other external influences that may affect how the business plans the communications and marketing of our products.
  • Be a focal point for business development initiatives and work across sales, product, marketing and executive teams to develop and nurture opportunities.
  • Be responsible for a full mix of marketing activities across our product portfolio including, digital, social, PR, exhibitions and events ensuring careful coordination and focus on objective outcomes.
  • Work with your team to develop and implement fully integrated and costed campaign programs to deliver MQL/SQL and pipeline targets.
  • Own and drive group and product messaging, ensure reputational standards are maintained and evolved across communications.
  • Create a vision for the marketing department and its role within the business and work with the executive team to agree, resource and deliver.
  • Develop the digital marketing infrastructure and capability and monitor to improve performance.
  • Define, own and track department OKRs and KPIs and work with the marketing team to align activities to ensure targets are met.
  • Support the marketing team, identifying and facilitating activities, initiatives and opportunities that will help them be successful in their roles.
  • Work with our Product team to understand product roadmaps and ensure launch plans are developed and communicated effectively to customers and prospects.
  • Be a mentor for the marketing team, helping individuals develop their marketing skills and achieve their personal targets.
  • Manage the department budget to control costs and maximise ROI.
  • Represent the company at networking and other sector events.

Skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Previous experience as Head of Marketing within a B2B SaaS business.
  • Demonstrable experience of building and executing a marketing strategy targeting the business growth objectives.
  • Confident in leading a marketing team, with the want/desire to help them grow and develop within the business.
  • A strategic thinker who is able to think about both the short- and long-term goals of IMP with careful consideration of brand impact and customer relationships.
  • Previous experience of budget management
  • Experience within EdTech would be desirable but not essential
