Position Overview of the Data Governance Practice Lead:

We seek an experienced Data Governance Practice Lead to spearhead our data governance initiatives, ensuring our data assets' integrity, quality, and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance within enterprise data teams, particularly in the financial services sector, with a preference for wealth management experience. 

The Data Governance Practice Lead will be key in establishing, implementing, and maturing a robust data governance framework across BetaNXT. The Data Governance Practice Lead will champion a culture of data stewardship throughout the organization to bridge the gap between technical requirements and business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Data Governance Practice Lead:

  • Strategic Data Governance: Develop and execute a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational objectives, fostering a data-centric culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs, ensuring that data governance initiatives are tailored to support diverse functional requirements.
  • Data Stewardship Program: Establish and lead a robust data stewardship program, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and processes for data owners and stewards across the organization.
  • Data Privacy and Compliance: Lead efforts to ensure compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, or industry-specific standards relevant to our operations.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to enhance data literacy and awareness across all levels of the organization.
  • Data Governance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of data governance initiatives, providing regular reports to leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, regularly evaluating and refining data governance processes to adapt to evolving business needs and technological advancements.
  • Data Quality Management: Define and oversee data quality standards, processes, and metrics to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of organizational data.
  • Collaboration with IT: Work closely with IT teams to ensure data governance initiatives align with the organization's technical architecture and systems integration.
  • Data Cataloging and Classification: Implement and maintain a data catalog to document and classify enterprise data assets, ensuring their accessibility and proper use.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts to integrate data governance practices into existing workflows and encourage adoption across the organization.

Skills and Experience of the Data Governance Practice Lead:

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role within data governance, with a track record of successfully implementing and managing data governance programs.
  • 10+ years working in enterprise data teams, with substantial experience in financial services, banking, or wealth management sectors.
  • In-depth understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies. (e.g., Data.World, Informatica, Collibra, Alation)
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data quality, metadata management, data classification, and data stewardship.
  • Excellent understanding of industry-standard regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to lead and execute data governance projects from conception to completion.
  • Ability to develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Strong documentation skills to maintain clear and comprehensive records of data governance processes, policies, and issues.
