Job description

Shanahan Engineering are currently recruiting for a Financial Controller to join the team. The purpose of the position is overall responsibility for all aspects of the Company’s finance policies, procedures, reporting and all other obligations with the exception of corporation tax compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Finance Department Management
  • Responsibility for the overall management of the Finance team and integrity of the financial accounting systems.
  • Schedule monthly Finance meetings with all staff to review month end performance, balance sheet reconciliations and the monthly month end file.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all information reported to Group via FCCS.
  • Ensure that the financial policies and procedures throughout the Company are adhered to in all respects.
  • Ensure that the Company has proper segregation of duties to minimize any risk of fraud or any other financial irregularities. Project Reporting
  • Preparation of weekly reports for all projects of the Company as identified from time to time.
  • Identify all open commercial risks and opportunities of active projects on a weekly basis.
  • Provide detailed phased forecasts for all active projects on a monthly basis to the Finance Director. Monthly Management Accounts
  • Review the monthly management accounts and reconcile variances to budget and forecast.
  • Prepare month end provisions.
  • Review and approve all intercompany invoicing for month end. Treasury Management
  • Review bank accounts on a weekly basis ensuring maximum funds are maintained within the Group clearing system.
  • Ensure all annual Company intercompany charges are properly accounted for.
  • Assist in the management of the Company hedging activities as required. Other Duties
  • Prepare and manage Dublin Head Office payroll.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required by the business from time to time.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Attention to detail and process ownership.
  • Understanding and reporting of exceptions to processes on a timely basis.
  • Strong financial acumen to maximize financial outcomes for the business and protect the Company from risk of fraud or other financial loss.
  • High level of interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Commitment to tight deadlines and willingness to work as required to meet deadlines.
  • Strong discipline in maintaining audit trails for all processes and related tasks.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role.

Education Requirements

  • Ideally qualified or part qualified accountant but if strong experience would consider regardless.
