Job description

This is a remote position.

Job Highlights:
  • 40 hours / week
  • Mon-Fri, 9:00am-6:00pm ​Texas time with 1 hour unpaid break

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and bilingual (Spanish/English) Debt Collector to join our law firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in debt collection and excellent communication skills to recover outstanding balances while maintaining professionalism and compassion. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial stability of the firm by managing client payment plans and addressing overdue accounts.

Responsibilities:
  • Contact clients with outstanding balances via phone, email, and written correspondence to negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Review and manage payment plans to ensure compliance with agreed terms.
  • Develop and implement strategies for recovering debts in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of communication, payments, and follow-ups in the firm’s database.
  • Provide clients with clear explanations of their account status and payment options.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to escalate unresolved accounts or disputes.
  • Stay up-to-date on applicable laws and regulations governing debt collection.
  • Assist in preparing reports on collection progress and outstanding accounts.

Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in debt collection, preferably in a legal or financial services setting.
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English (written and verbal communication is essential).
  • Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with grace.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Highly organized with a keen eye for detail.
