Summary: 
The Sr. Development Manager, contributes to and leads a team to execute on a systematic method to rapidly identify, obtain site control, and run prudent fatal flaw analyses for potential utility scale wind and solar energy projects. Demonstrates a deep understanding of development, risk identification and mitigation strategies, budget management, lease negotiations, staff management and team building.

Requirements:   
  • Functions as a key contributor within the Development Team, market identification and site prospecting strategies. This includes providing insights, first party research, market analysis, and synthesized data and analytics. Responsible for evaluating, preparing documentation for, and representing project level decisions at project evaluation meetings.
  • Represents RES in Landowner and community settings.
  • Works closely with energy resource engineers to identify optimum project sites and develop land acquisition strategies.
  • Manages all aspects of the land-rights acquisition process.
  • Works closely with legal counsel and senior development team members to draft land-rights documents.
  • Manages land acquisition consultants and other temporary contractors.
  • Works with Landowners and Energy Resource Engineers to get measurement equipment permitted and installed.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.

  • Participates in environmental and permitting work.
  • Participates in transmission/interconnection process.
  • Ensures smooth transition of projects to other members of Development Team on completion of land acquisition.

  • Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.
Leadership:

  • Manages one or more direct reports.
  • Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.
  • Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.

    • Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
    • Conducts regular discussions with employee(s) on personal development. Comfortable with empowering others.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law, engineering, science, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree in business administration, law, engineering, science, or a related field preferred or in progress.
  • 5 or more years of project management experience required.
  • 5 or more years' experience in large scale commercial project development, real estate, or land acquisition required.
  • Ability to travel domestically 16 to 30% required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.
  • Develops Utility Scale Renewable Energy Projects (Wind & Solar) across multiple geographies, Real Property Acquisition & Negotiations, Land Title, Mineral Title, business and accounting practices, geographic information systems, transmission and interconnection, electrical energy markets, environmental & permitting activities, renewable design & construction.
  • Communication skills, relationship building, self-starter, detail focused, numerical analytical skills. Ability to lead a team, deliver to individual project schedules and budgets, strategic focus with ability to share vision with others, ability to travel domestically <25% of time.
  • Functional competencies include collaboration, attention to detail, learning on the fly, excellence, and passion.
Anticipated base salary range:  $166,000 - $170,000
 
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
