Job description

For our partner, we are now looking for a Senior AIX Administrator.


The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and maintaining AIX systems while ensuring optimal performance, security, and uptime. This role requires expertise in Virtual I/O Server (VIO), High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing (HACMP), Hardware Management Console (HMC), and Zabbix monitoring. This role will play a key role in supporting the AIX environment and contributing to infrastructure projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain AIX operating systems on Power Systems servers
  • Manage and configure VIO servers to optimize storage and network resources
  • Implement and monitor High Availability solutions using HACMP to ensure system reliability and uptime
  • Utilize HMC for server management, including system configuration, updates, and performance tuning
  • Monitor system performance and health using Zabbix, generating reports and alerts for any anomalies or potential issues
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning in compliance with organizational standards
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems, analyze logs, and provide resolutions in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute system upgrades and migrations
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to system configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members and promote best practices in AIX administration
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to AIX systems and associated tools


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience as an AIX Administrator, specifically in enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with VIO, HACMP, HMC, and Zabbix
  • Familiarity with power systems architecture and performance tuning
  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Shell, Perl, Python) for automation and management tasks
  • Experience with Operating System hardening, file integrity mgmt. (FIM) and general system security aspects
  • Experience with storage, backup, and virtualization technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders
