Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor a Fortune 500 global corporation is looking for a dedicated and forward-thinking field Technical Applications Manager to join our Lab Specialty Products (LSP) organization which is focused on the Biotech/Biopharma market.

Our Avantor branded chromatography and plastics products are used to advance scientific research and accelerate drug development to improve patient outcomes. 

This technical/ commercial role will focus on building key strategic relationships with customers and develop new opportunities to build a strong pipeline for future growth.

The successful candidate will apply their commercial experience, LC-MS and lab automation knowledge, product expertise, market intelligence, and project management skills to grow sales and profitability. 

This role is full-time, USA remote.

  Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree: M.S. or Ph.D. in Life Sciences preferred

Travel:

  • Up to 50% (both local and overnight).

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of Life Science/Analytical Chemistry research experience.
  • 1+ yrs chromatography applications.
  • Collaboration skills (Microsoft Office to include PowerPoint, CRM, PowerBI and/or QlikView).

Preferred Experience 2+ yrs,):

  • B2B or B2C sales.
  • Consultatively selling.
  • In Biopharma, pharmaceutical and/or chemical industry.
  • In laboratory automation.
  • Automated liquid handling.

What we’re looking for:

Implementing a robust combination of scientific understanding and business acumen and with exemplary people skills in communicating and collaborating with customers, manufacturing, marketing, management and R&D; the Technical Applications Manager will carry on highly technical conversations related to Analytical Chemistry workflows—use of LC-MS in monoclonal antibody characterization, nucleic acid therapeutics, drug discovery and QC —with KOLs and decision-makers.

Technical and Interpersonal Skills: The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, the ability to carry on technical conversations related to Analytical Chemistry workflows, and experience in laboratory automation and automated liquid handling. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, CRM, and PowerBI/QlikView is preferred.

Responsibilities and Impact: The role involves consultative selling, developing new and optimizing existing applications, leading sales processes, driving customer engagement, and maintaining up-to-date technical and market knowledge. The successful candidate will prioritize new product introductions and contribute to thought leadership through partnerships and publications.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

A highly technical position requiring an in-depth knowledge and/or experience using chromatography and liquid handlers the Technical Applications Manager will:

  • Consultatively sell and provide technical guidance to customers with a focus on Avantor branded products across lab chemicals, chromatography, laboratory automation and automated liquid handling and consumable products.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop new and optimize existing applications utilizing Avantor branded lab chemicals, chromatography, and consumable solutions. 
  • Prioritize New Product Introduction (NPI) prospects to improve adoption rates and revenue return.
  • Consistently lead sales process with Analytical Chemistry Sales Specialists to include sales forecasting, funnel and opportunity management through the use of C4C and other designated tracking tools
  • Drive customer engagement through organizing and delivering on-site technical seminars and attending relevant trade shows.
  • Drive thought leadership through partnership with KOLs and publication of application notes and white papers
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date relevant technical, market, and regulatory knowledge while providing technical and commercial expertise for new product promotions and initiatives

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$77,300.00 - $128,700.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
