Job description

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $77,700.00 in our lowest geographic market to $174,000.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Designers are outstanding teammates and visual communicators who work under the direction of the Design Lead and Creative Director and alongside producers, and writers. They are master executors when it comes to craft and are proficient in working across several mediums including art direction, moving image, graphic and spatial design. They deliver comprehensive design solutions across all appropriate channels, in collaboration with internal and external partners. They have a passion for creativity and are committed to current and future trends and technology.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

·Work with the Lead Designer and Creative team to develop the visual direction, as you help to craft the Art Direction, graphic design, while upholding excellence, ambition, and team spirit.

·Help deliver best-in-class photography, video content, digital and experience design in service of the Men’s Lifestyle studio.

·Develop and maintain relationships with photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, designers, and their agents.

·Help craft art direction for video shoots, ensuring our content is always on-brand, diverse, dynamic and resonates with culture.

·Keep up to date with emerging trends in fashion, sport design, film, art, media and technology as relevant to Nike and the design team.

·Collaborate with styling, marketing, tech, retail, photography and editorial to meet brand vision and standards.

·Ensure all projects are well-planned, creatively exceptional, delivered on-time and to the highest standard.

·Review project work for highest standards of quality, consistency and success.

·Balance Design execution with Art direction ideation, seamlessly transitioning back and forth as needed.

·Expert knowledge of design treads and best practice across entire ecosystem, with an ability to critique and give feedback on layout, typesetting, image cropping and design color palette.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will partner with the Creative Director, your North America Lifestyle teammates, the Global Creative team, Brand and Social teams, the Content Production team, and Business Affairs.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Minimum 3-5 years graphic design and art direction experience in a creative agency, design agency, editorial or brand environment.

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • A passion for the Athlete*, Sport* and Lifestyle Culture.

  • Solid portfolio of creative work, exhibiting a seasoned background in digital and editorial design as well as photography + video art direction and design direction.

  • Great knowledge and expertise in all aspects of layout, typography, illustration, identity, digital production and publishing across editorial formats and platforms.

  • Thorough understanding of today’s media landscape and how people engage with content, with in-depth knowledge of interactive communication, processes and user-interface design for digital products.

  • Ability to lead team efforts while also working independently to deliver on individual responsibilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with dedication to champion cross-functional and external partnerships in an open, positive and inclusive environment.

  • Curiosity and in-depth understanding of design culture, current and past.

  • A positive mentality with proven ability to flex and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality.

  • Laser-sharp focus to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.

  • Strong time management with ability to toggle between daily and long-term tasks, keeping workstreams moving forward simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills; adept at presenting and defending creative work.

  • Astute attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills in service of your creative projects, all the while maintaining big picture thinking

  • Experience across O2O environments, with ability to bridge a connection between business needs, creative vision, and consumer interests.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with proactive approach to identifying and acting on ways to improve the work, continually pushing the vision forward.

  • Motion, 3D and Illustration ability, preferred.

  • A sense of humor and a positive spirit.

  • Ability to collaborate with and creatively manage freelance design talent.

  • A  strong connection culture sharp focus in Gen Z interests, language, and trends.

  • This role will sit on-site in New York, New York.
