Job description

The British Council in Kyiv is looking for a Teacher of English (hourly paid) to deliver quality English language teaching to a diverse audience of young learners and adults as part of the British Council Ukraine teaching team on a freelance basis.

 

Location: Remote/Kyiv, Ukraine

Basic Requirements
All applicants should have Cambridge CELTA or Trinity certificate TESOL (global minimum standard) or equivalent as a basic qualification and 2 years post-certificate experience. In addition, you should have an undergraduate degree; and be proficient in English (minimum of CPE Pass / IELTS band 8 in each of 4 sections of the academic module). Recognised diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA and/or MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics would be an asset.  

 

Experience in teaching relevant age groups in at least one of the following:

  • CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience
  • Young learners aged 6 to 7 (100+ hours)
  • Young learners aged 8 to 10 (200+ hours)
  • Young learners aged 11 to 17 (200+ hours)
  • Adults General English (200+ hours)

 

What to Expect:

  • Hourly paid Teacher of English, British Council Ukraine, will focus their work on delivering classes to Primary and Secondary Young Learners  from 6 -17 years old (online), as well as General English Adult courses. 
  • Post holder may be asked to deliver other range of classes if needed (exam preparation, cover slots, etc.) as per agreement with Teaching Centre Management and as per Teaching Centre needs, whereas primary responsibility lies with teaching Young Learners.
  • Classes take online only at the moment due to war and safety issues.
