Description

The Community Organizer for the Southwest Region will be part of the dynamic Organizing Department. This person brings experience and expertise to support the development and implementation of strategies to build peoplepower to advance voting rights and democracy priorities at the National, State and Local level by developing and centering the leadership in the Southeast and the Deep South.??? 

Key job components include developing and delivering training using popular education methodologies, building organizing capacity, coaching, being a thought partner, developing partnerships, executing strategic campaigns, and creating a connection between national issue campaigns and local activities.? 


This position reports to the Senior National Organizing Manager.   


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Build strong, trusted, and authentic relationships with League leaders and regional partner organizations.   
  • Implement online and offline organizing strategies to build grassroots peoplepower to help LWV achieve campaign, legislative, advocacy, and program wins.? 
  • Support expansion of state and local League online, including digital relational organizing through League in Action (Outreach Circle), and offline/in-person presence to grow base and supporters to meet organizational goals?? 
  • Work to further develop and grow volunteer leadership and capacity at the state and local levels to advance organizing work.   
  • Work with state and local Leagues to develop and implement strategies to build their LWV base of members, volunteers and supporters, specifically with community members ages from 18 to 45?? 
  • Identify training needs, in coordination with the Organizing Team, to develop a schedule and deliver Organizing Trainings throughout the year.? 
  • Develop and implement strategies and campaigns to continue to grow LWV’s members, power, and engagement with voters, particularly communities in the New American Majority (communities of color and young people).   
  • Support the capturing and reporting of data to build a narrative of efforts and impact of program goals.   
  • Coordinate with Sr. Nat’l Organizing Manager and work with other departments to ensure that organizing goals complement other campaign and organizational goals.? 
  • Coordinate with the Senior National Organizing Manager and work with other departments to ensure that local and state Leagues in the Southeast region are aligned and coordinated on supporting National campaigns and efforts (e.g., the One Person, One Vote Campaign).? 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.? 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

  • At least 3 years of experience in community, labor, issue or political organizing, campaigns, or leadership development, including an understanding of community organizing principles.   
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and resources to train-the-trainers and leaders, using popular education methodologies.?? 
  • Ability to engage diverse communities in authentic ways.   
  • Experience strategizing, implementing, monitoring, and assessing campaigns or field plans.   
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, people skills, and strong attention to detail.? 
  • Experience doing digital, relational, and in-person organizing is required.? 
  • Familiarity with voting rights, election reform, and voter engagement is preferred.   
  • Experience working with Office 365, Salsa-Engage, Salesforce, League in Action/Outreach Circle, and/or NGP VAN is a plus.? 
  • Willingness and availability to travel; have a valid driver’s license.   

SALARY & BENEFITS  

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000.  We have a generous benefits package that includes 95 percent employer-sponsored health insurance, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays, vacation days, sick days, pre-tax transit benefits, and the opportunity to contribute to a 401(K) plan.? 


This job is fully remote.  Employees should preferably be based in Florida, Georgia, North or South Carolina.?
