About the Role 

Kitu Systems is scaling rapidly and needs your help to define and build our future. We are looking for dedicated, creative engineers to architect and implement solutions to catalyst velocity, visibility, observability, reliability, and scalability across our product teams. In this position you will be an integral member of an engineering team focused on delivering cutting edge solutions to a broad range of DevOps and Cloud-native challenges.  

 What You Will Be Doing 

  • Establish and continually improve software development infrastructure. You will be an evangelist for developer and engineering enablement through building, improving, and documenting cloud-native solutions, CI/CD systems, Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management, and observability and security frameworks.   

  • Identify and eliminate toil. You will design and develop automated solutions to reduce toil and improve operational efficiency.  

  • Troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively. When mission critical systems go down, you will be a member of the team responsible for owning the outage across its lifecycle, from remediation to postmortem.  

  • Passionately create and contribute. You will work collaboratively with engineers across various technical areas, products, and backgrounds. You will quickly adapt to new challenges and deliver solutions that are reusable, scalable, observable, and secure.  

Basic Qualifications 

  • 4+ year(s) experience in DevOps or Operations/System Engineer role 

  • Experience with Linux  is a must

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers 

  • Experience with Git 

  • Experience with tools and best practices including:   

  • IaC (Terraform, Pulumi, and CloudFormation)   

  • Configuration Management (Ansible, Chef or Puppet)   

  • CI/CD (Bitbucket, CircleCI, Jenkins, Gitlab-CI, etc.)   

  • Scripting (BASH, Python, Go, etc.)   

  • Observability and alerting tools (ELK, Logz.io, SumoLogic, Prometheus,  Grafana, PagerDuty, OpsGenie, New Relic, etc.)  

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Docker-Compose, Podman, Kubernetes, etc) 
     

Preferred Qualifications 

  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field 

  • Experience supporting 24/7 mission critical systems 

  • Experience building and deploying Node/NPM applications  

  • Experience deploying and supporting cloud-native applications  

  • Experience helping organizations improve their operational maturity (logging, monitoring, incident management, observability, etc.) 

  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM
