Assists in the planning, tracking, and documentation of privacy projects and initiatives including compliance assessments, audits, and investigations. Responds to internal and external audit requests, updates monthly privacy metrics, and tracks privacy risks and gaps. Tracks changes and trends in privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Coordinates annual updates and reviews of EMC’s privacy policies, standards, and procedures. Helps review and implement annual privacy training and education efforts. Schedules meetings and prepares materials as part of the EMC Privacy Ambassador Program. Assists with breach investigations tasks and assists in the overall data governance program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the planning, tracking, and documentation of privacy projects and initiatives including compliance assessments, audits, and investigations.

  • Responds to internal and external audit requests, updates monthly privacy metrics, and tracks privacy risks and gaps.

  • Collaborates with other business units across the organization to understand privacy requirements, ensure requirements are met, and mitigate privacy gaps as assigned.

  • Tracks changes and trends in privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Works with business units across the organization to communicate, document, and monitor remediation requirements, plans, and gaps as needed.

  • Coordinates annual updates and reviews of EMC’s privacy policies, standards, and procedures including internal policies for team members and contractors, external facing privacy policy for agents, policy holders, and other EMC business stakeholders as assigned.

  • Helps review and implement annual privacy training and education efforts to promote information awareness and ensure team members are aware of privacy policies and are being good stewards of data.  

  • Assists in the overall data governance program by helping other Privacy team members to document a full data inventory, data owners, and business specific retention periods.

  • Participates in meetings with the Data Governance Team and business unit representatives.

  • Provides ongoing requirements based on regulatory needs to Data Governance program. 

  • Schedules meetings and prepares materials as part of the EMC Privacy Ambassador Program to understand business unit specific privacy needs.  

  • Assists with breach investigations tasks including gathering details about the breach and fulfilling notification requirements based on the relevant privacy laws.

  • Assists with customer data requests by being the liaison between Privacy and IT and creating communication drafts with the customer. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

The education and experience below are required for the job unless labelled as preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in information management, accounting, or a business- related field or equivalent relevant experience  

  • Prior experience with property and casualty insurance preferred
