Job description

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Scientific Operations Manager is dedicated, organized, and plays a crucial role in supporting the onboarding process for new hires in Product Development and Medical Affairs. S/he collaborates with hiring managers to create role-specific onboarding plans, ensures new hires have a smooth transition into their roles, and equips them with the necessary resources to succeed. Additionally, this role involves organizing group onboarding sessions, maintaining up-to-date onboarding resources, and managing the scientific education and training SharePoint site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop and implement role-specific onboarding plans.
  • Support new hires during their onboarding journey, ensuring they have access to all necessary resources and information.
  • Track learning progress in collaboration with the hiring manager.
  • Deliver certain onboarding overviews and coordinate others depending on the topic.
  • Organize and facilitate group onboarding sessions for new hires learning the same topics to enhance efficiency and foster a collaborative learning environment.
  • Ensure all onboarding resources are current and relevant.
  • Manage and maintain the scientific education and training SharePoint site, ensuring it is a valuable resource for new hires and existing employees.
  • Continuously improve the onboarding process based on feedback and best practices.
  • Assist with continuous educational activities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No supervisory responsibilities.
  • Provide direction to other individuals.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Experience:

  • BS/BA in related field and a minimum of 9 years pharmaceutical industry, preferred experience in oncology; or,
  • MS/MA in related field and a minimum of 7 years pharmaceutical industry, preferred experience in oncology; or,
  • Accredited doctorate degree in a basic-science or life-science discipline (Pharm.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., D.N.P., D.O.) and a minimum of 2 years pharmaceutical industry, preferred experience in oncology; or,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Content/curricula or training certifications in adult learning training content preferred.

Experience/The Ideal for Successful Entry into Job:

  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry required
  • Knowledge of how various functions within Product Development and Medical Affairs operate
  • Experience with project management

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience in onboarding, training, or a related field, preferably within Product Development or Medical Affairs.
  • Knowledge of scientific education and training best practices; familiarity with adult learning principles.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using SharePoint and other relevant software tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Environment: primarily working indoors, performing clerical work or meeting with colleagues
  • Travel required: < 20% for internal meetings

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $133,000 - $188,500 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
