Job description

Sr. Software Engineer – POS Integration

Remote- Must reside in United States

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Software Engineer to lead our software development team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java, extensive experience with Point of Sale (POS) system integrations, and a strong background in SQL, NoSQL databases, and AWS cloud services. Experience in the restaurant industry or similar high-transaction environments is highly preferred.
This role will focus on designing, developing, and integrating scalable and secure applications while driving best practices in architecture, coding, and DevOps. The Engineering Manager will also be responsible for mentoring the team, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Oversee the design and development of software applications using Java and some C#.
  • Architect and implement scalable, high-availability solutions in AWS Cloud.
  • Lead integration efforts with Point of Sale (POS) systems, ensuring seamless communication with POS vendor platforms.
  • Design and optimize SQL and NoSQL database solutions to support business needs.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, development best practices, and security guidelines.
Team Management & Mentorship
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 1-2 software engineers, ensuring technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Conduct code reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Management & Execution
  • Work closely with Product Management, QA and DevOps, to define technical requirements and deliver solutions on time.
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and support.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and system outages.
Cloud & Infrastructure Management
  • Leverage AWS services (S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, etc.) to build and deploy scalable applications.
  • Ensure applications are cloud-optimized, with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
POS Integration & Restaurant Industry Focus
  • Lead the development and maintenance of POS integration solutions, ensuring high transaction processing efficiency.
  • Understand the unique technology needs of the restaurant industry, including inventory management, payment processing, and customer loyalty.


Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise: 4+ years experience in software development in POS Systems 
Programming Languages: Strong expertise in Java and some C# development.
POS Integration: Experience with POS systems (e.g., Toast, Micros, Symphony, NCR, Square, Revel, or similar).  Knowledge of Virtual Machines, POS software installation, maintaining POS menu database and troubleshooting POS systems.
Database Management: Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL.
Cloud Technologies: Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services for scalable application development.
API Development: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, WebSockets, and event-driven architectures.
DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
Leadership & Management Skills
Proven experience leading and mentoring software development teams.
Strong project management abilities, with experience in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Industry Experience (Preferred)
Background in restaurant technology, hospitality, or retail software solutions.
Knowledge of payment processing, inventory management, and customer engagement solutions.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.

Pay and Benefits (USA)
  • Expected base salary range $145,000 - $175,000. + . Total starting compensation will be determined based on all lawful criteria, Company policy and best practices.
  • Equity: All employees within the U.S. are eligible to participate in the Stock Option Plan.
