CHI211H5F Chinese for Academic Purposes I
This course, designed for native or near-native speakers of Mandarin Chinese, develops rhetorical knowledge and critical thinking skills for effective academic reading and writing. Students will also receive training in conducting effective formal presentations with supporting media and public speaking skills.
Class schedule:
Section 0101: Mondays and Thursdays (11am-2pm)
Section 0201: Tuesdays and Fridays (9am-12pm)

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Ph.D. in Chinese language pedagogy, literature, linguistics, or a related field is required.
Demonstrated knowledge in the area of second language acquisition or Chinese linguistics and experience teaching university-level Chinese language courses are required.
(Near-)native fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
